Hi there, after I sent an update to the store with updating play-services-ads sdk version from 15.0.0 to 16.0.0,  eCPM of ads is decreased with very serious percentages as shown on the graph.
There is no drop for impression and show rate. Is there any known bug in 16.0.0?
I know that eCPM is related to number of advertisers and their bids but a drop to 20-25% of its usual average value in last 3 months does not seem to be reasonable for such a reason.
Also i have noticed that amount of clicks reduced significantly with the update which can be the reason for drop in eCPM, but again it does not seem to be reasonable to have clicks ~25% of average value in last 3 months just after the update.
What could be the reason of it?

Please help me about this.
Thanks.

We also have a very similar issue in 1 of our apps which use 16.0.0 and losing revenue day by day. Similarly, clicks dropped significantly. Is this another buggy version of admob sdk? It ruins our finance, any help will be appreciated, please urgent help is necessary.
Thanks in advance

Hi All,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

For your concern regarding the version 16.0.0, as far as we know there is no bug corresponding on that version. With regard to your concern for impressions, match rate, revenue and impression issues are dealt with in the AdMob Help Center. You may check this match rate article and optimization tips that can help you regarding this.

Hello again dear Admob Team,
First of all we are very sad to see only your automatic reply but nothing about a suggestion or idea about the sharp decrease in eCPM that we have mentioned in our previous message. It may be true that we can optimize it in a better way, but what is not optimized for our app, also is not optimized before 5th of May, therefore shouldn't we expect the app to keep its "not optimized" revenues that it has for last 2-3 months and more ? According to us, it is obvious that what cause that sharp decrease is happened at 5th May - the release date of the update (as it can be seen from the eCPM graph). Considering that we did not change anything (a single line of code etc.) related to admob-sdk except updating the version of sdk from 15.0.0 to 16.0.0, can you please guide us through this information?
(Of course, all our assumptions about updating the sdk may be wrong, and could be seem as such to us but on the other hand it is really difficult to assume that the issue is related to being not optimized as we mentioned above, why not its not optimized revenue value starting to decrease without changing anything?)

Hi Bektas,

Thank you for the additional information. First let me stated that this forum is for helping people with the technical implementation of the SDK into their app. From what I can see, you are able to get ads as expected. But appears that your metrics and how the ads are being served to you are not working the same after updating. We would first suggest that you contact our Product Support Team , as they have the tools to look into why your eCPM and clickthru dropped so much.

Secondly, when looking at it on our end, the fact that you are also on v16 could also be a cause for issues. As with v20 this version was known to introduce breaks with certain methods being deprecated and the API changing. Would it be possible to look into upgrading to v20 ?
