Hello!

I have been looking into ad campaigns to serve up house/direct sale ads on a native ad unit. I have successfully been able to display custom ads that advertise other apps.

Ideally I would like to be able to create native ads that link to websites. On this support page, https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128738, the table at the bottom shows that that is not possible (for text and image ads anyhow). However, it's entirely possible to set up these adverts, and the ad does appear in my app, and it does link to the website. The only issue is that no image or text is displayed! So is it an error that these adverts are displayed at all, or is there some way I can get them working properly despite what the support page says?

I have also seen that native ads linking to websites are supported, and are called content ads. But I haven't been able to find much information about these. Is this only for standard ads served up by Admob, and not something I can create in a campaign?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. From what I understand, you're trying to load native ads that advertise other websites. If that's the case, I'm afraid it is not possible. Firstly, as mentioned in the documentation, Native Express Ad Units will be able to show text and image ads that advertise other apps. It is not possible to display text and image ads that point to a website. However, this can be done by advertising your websites or apps using Banner ads or Interstitial ads.

As for your second question, Native ads Advanced is currently in limited beta release. If you wish to participate, do reach out to your Technical Account Manager (if you have one) as mentioned in the developer guide to use Native Advanced features.

Let me know if you have any other concerns.

Hiya Bharani, thanks for clarifying this.

Is this an intended feature for the future? It seems like an odd limitation, especially as Admob does serve up native ads that advertise websites.

Can you confirm that the Native ads Advanced beta would not allow us to create ads that advertise websites? I know it says that's the case in the documentation you linked, I'm just not sure how up to date it is considering it's a beta feature.

Thanks again,
Joe.

Hi Joe,

Thank you for getting back. I have confirmed this with our team, we have content ads for Native Advanced that support advertising websites. However, as mentioned earlier, Native Advanced is still in beta. I cannot provide you with the exact timeline of when this will be available to all the users. You can monitor this through our release history page and blog posts

Let me know if you have any other questions. I will be happy to help.

Thanks Bharani, this will be a huge help.

We currently don't have a Technical Account Manager. Would you be able to point us in the right direction for sorting this out?

Cheers,
Joe.

Hi Joe,

A Technical Account Manager is a publisher support agent and if you're assigned one, you can contact them directly to enroll in the Native Advanced program. If you do not have one, please contact our AdMob Product Support Team and they may assist you. This forum only deals with SDK related queries.
