0 percent match rate 5 days ago. The real ads always worked before and with no changes this problem popped up from the blue.

99+ % match rate on July 21 and before that. 0 % match rate on July 22 til now.

Google approved my app around July 11, and I have had over a 99 percent match rate every day from July 11 until July 21. When I woke up on July 22, the match rate was 0, and it has been 0 ever since.

I have checked the following:
The policy center says: "No problems." I have also never encountered any issues in the policy center before. I have an app-ads.txt file that says: "Found and verified" and has a green checkmark. My app is on the app store, and Google states that my ad serving is activated.

Things I haven't done:
I haven't submitted the US tax form in the payment section. When I go to the verification tab, it only says, "Your account may need to be verified." I haven't made any changes in the code. I released an update on July 17, and the app had a 100 percent match rate with that new version (that version had the marketing URL in which the app-ads.txt is stored) until July 22.

What I think is wrong: I believe that on July 22, Google found and verified the app-ads.txt, and I suspect that after the app-ads.txt file was found and verified, my ads stopped working.

But I don't know for sure, and I am desperate for help. My app relies on ads (otherwise, users have to pay for it, and the fact that it is powered by ads is one of the main selling points). Right now, this ad problem is killing my app.

The error message I am constantly getting is this:

Failed to load ad with error: Error Domain=com.google.admob Code=1 "Request Error: No ad to show." UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Request Error: No ad to show., gad_response_info=  ** Response Info **

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

With regard to the error that you're encountering, it means that the ad request was successful, but no ad was returned. Can you provide us the following information below so we can check it in our end?

  • App ID
  • Ad unit id affected
This message is in relation to case "ref:_00D1U1174p._5004Q2mwT12:ref"

Hi Mobile Ads SKD Forum Advisor!

I think I have some good news. After waking up today I was met by a 100 percent match rate and when restarting my app on my phone I indeed saw a real banner ad. When I runned my app in Xcode the error I posted about didn't appear, and as I said I have kept the original code from July 11 the whole time. What I did change a couple of days ago were the eCPM floor, I had always had it on Google optimized (maximize all) but some days after the ads stopped showing I inactivated eCPM foor on my ad units. My question is: Doesn't Google optimized eCPM work and was the fact that I set it to inactive the reason why the ads are now showing with 100 percent match rate?

But anyways, I appreciate and want to thank you for the quick support trying to resolve my issue. As the ads are now showing you don't have to assist me further. However, if the issue appears again I will post a similar thread or looking at other threads mentioning the same issue (which I saw could be found in the Google Mobile Ads SDK Developers group). Thank you so much and have a great day!

Hello Jonathan,

I'm afraid eCPM, match rate, and impression issues are dealt with in the AdMob Help Center. For revenue-related concern and performance of ad units, we recommend that you reach out to the Product Support Team as they're the appropriate team that could help you in this. You may check this Advanced techniques to optimize in-app revenue with Google AdMob guide and optimization tips that can help you regarding this. Kindly note that the SDK just requests an ad to the ad server (E.g: AdMob), and I'm afraid that it doesn't have any control on eCPM, fill rate, match rate, or impression of your app. This forum can only provide support on the technicalities related to the code implementation of the Mobile Ads SDK.
