Hello i'm using admob for long time now. Until now, everything worked great.
I found that all interstitial  ads display a black screen instead of the ads in all my apps.

It's feel like something is wrong. but the code in the apps did not change for long time(regarding Admob).

My google play service SDK is 21
Google Play services apk installed on my device 6.5.99
OS on my device is Android 5.0.1

That's certainly unusual.  I would check the following things:

1) Is this only happening on one device?  If so, try another to make sure it persists.
2) Has anything changed in your AdMob.com account setup? Make sure you're in good standing there.
3) Does anything show up in the logs when you test the applications? Usually, AdMob will write an error code to the log if there's a problem.
4) Have you tried using a different WiFi network (or switching to mobile data) to see if there's something wrong with network setup?

Thank you for helping.
1. I tested on old Android OS and i can see the ads. I will try to find new device from my friends and see if they can see the ads.
2. When you say "good standing" in AdMob.com what do you mean?
3."Asset path '/system/framework/com.android.media.remotedisplay.jar' does not exist or contains no resources." this warning appears in the logcat when i'm trying to load ad.
4. using other network not solved the problem.

Hello,

I'm experiencing the same thing in all my apps.
It's not on all devices, but for the last few days it happens consistently on Nexus 5 with Android 5.0.1.
I think it happens with video ads, tried on different Wi-Fi networks.

Here are a few errors from the LOGCAT:

02-02 18:05:08.610: E/Ads(23654): JS: XMLHttpRequest cannot load chrome-extension://enhhojjnijigcajfphajepfemndkmdlo/cast_sender.js. Cross origin requests are only supported for HTTP. (https://www.youtube.com/embed/?el=adunit&controls=0&html5=1&playsinline=1&showinfo=0&enablejsapi=1&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fimasdk.googleapis.com:0)

02-02 18:07:48.787: E/Ads(23654): JS: Uncaught Error: IMA SDK is either not loaded from a google domain or is not a supported version. (http://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/admob/bridge_iw.html:107)

What can be done?

Thanks!

If the ads are showing on one device and not on another, it could well be the original device that's the issue.  Check to see that it's running the latest version of Google Play services, hasn't been rooted or otherwise modified, and has no ad-blocking software installed.

Thank you for your response.

The device is not rooted and doesn't have ad-blocking and was showing video ads before.

Google play services 6.5.99 is installed.

Does the errors I attached from the logcat irrelevant?

From your logcat, it looks like the device failed to load part of the javascript that runs in our video ads.  Without access to the full trace of what happened, it would be difficult for me to determine the problem, though.  Do you have access to a local proxy, such as Charles Proxy or Fiddler? If you'd like, you can use either one to trap a request, save it to a file, and post it here.  that would enable me to see exactly where the failure occurred.

It still happening, and after getting some emails from users I know realise it's also happening on iPhone, which much more problematic as there isn't a back key, and people just get stuck.
I've attached a few logs from fiddler

Thanks for posting this.  I don't have access to a Windows machine at the moment, but I'll make sure to grab one this evening and get back to you tomorrow.

I don't remeber how I fixed it - sorry.
But you should try upgrade the com.google.android.gms:play-services

I'm having the same issue, but randomly on any device, any Android version. Using latest gms, androidx services, etc... as of October 2019! That's 4 years later.

Sometimes it's a complete black screen, sometimes it shows the close button, sometimes it actually show an ad. When it shows, the delay, if any, isn't working at all and I can press back button to get back to the app.

This started a few months back when some updates where made to the SDK updates and at the same time people reported a log of crashes caused by ads SDK.

At this point, I see frequent crashes, like 95% of all my apps crashes are caused by ads SDK. And interstitial ads are suffering from this plague. All that is clearly crippling user experience.

When I took the time to look at logs, I could see some failure loading an URL, not sure if all the time. It would seem that the ads SDK is partly failing to load an ad and don't care to try again or abort it properly.

Obviously an issue with the SDK, that's been around for months now, and years!

Sadly I can't find any bug report on this!?

Hello, and thanks for your consideration.

I was merely trying to find a solution to the black screen interstitial ads and stumble upon this thread.

And so far, I cannot reproduce the black screen. Still waiting to see a video ads to check if the back button is now blocked (even though very doubtful) when there's a count-down, but I don't see count-downs often.

Crashes however are reported in Play Console, so I cannot get you a log for this.

Hi there,

Thank you for getting back to us.

I'm glad that your issue with Interstitial ad has been resolved. With regard to the crash that you've encountered, could you share us the full stack trace so we could check it on our end? Also, it would be a big help if you could provide a reproducible project and its steps to trigger the crash. Please use the "Reply privately to author" option to share the details privately.
