Welcome to Good Neighbors, an email discussion group for Hyde Park and the neighborhoods around it.

Be prepared for lots of mail on many topics.  If the volume becomes too much to handle you have the option of switching to a different delivery format.  Contact Laura Staley at lstaley@gmail.com or antonmary.bmaa@gmail.com to switch. You can also do it yourself by logging into your google groups account.

Our posting guidelines are: 
1) Good Neighbors is a Hyde Park Chicago email list to talk about what matters in our neighborhood specifically. Please keep it local.

2) Good Neighbors doesn't talk politics. 
It is okay to:
- Ask for information about political events, voting, and help locating information
- Raise awareness about political meet-ups, postcard drives, protests, and other events... but messages should be neutral in tone and focused on raising awareness of the event rather than promoting a position

It is not okay to:
- Promote or attack a person, party, candidate or platform
- Criticize another member's beliefs or opinions
- To talk about OPC (We tried for years, and we just can't...)

To simplify even further, tell us what is happening in Hyde Park, not what you think about it.

3) Before hitting send & reply all, pause, take a breathe, and ask yourself... do 1000+ people need this in their inbox.

4) Be kind. The listhost is called Good Neighbors, so this shouldn't need to be stated, but we give grace and assume the best of our fellow posters. Different opinions are ok, but insults, bullying,  slander, and bickering will get you moderated. 

5) Rules are subject to change at the management's discretion to keep the peace. 

Violators of posting guidelines will be given a warning. Repeated warnings or egregious behavior will result in being moved to moderated status.Â
