Chicago Lights Urban Farm: Growers Assistant Internship Program

Chicago Lights Urban Farm (CLUF) is hiring for two paid internship positions as Assistant Grower/Youth Educator.  These are 11 month positions (Feb 1-Dec 31) at 20 hours per week that will provide individuals age 18-26 with advanced job readiness and site-specific job training.


Eligibility requirements are:

  •  Ages 18 to 26 years old
  • Interest in Urban Agriculture/Gardening and working with high school age youth
  • Completion of 1 year in the CLUF Workforce Development Program or a similar Urban Agriculture Program, or 1 year of urban agriculture or gardening experience
  • Additionally, each potential Intern must face one or more of the following barriers to employment: (a) have no/low income and/or receive public assistance; (b) have previously experienced homelessness or be in supportive or transitional housing; (c) have prior court-involvement or juvenile adjudications; (d) be chronically under/unemployed; (e) be without a GED or high school diploma; and/or (f) be an emancipated foster care youth.

 We are holding two  information sessions: Tuesday, January 12 (5-6pm) and Wednesday, January 20 (1-2pm) at the Chicago Lights Urban Farm (444 W Chicago Ave). If folks cannot attend an information session, they can just send their cover letter, resume and 2 references to  Fourth Presbyterian Church, C/O Human Resources, 126 E Chestnut St., Chicago, IL 60611.
