Let's look at the events to draw a picture of what lies ahead for the present political system in Pakistan.

* DG Rangers Sindh's eye-opening report on collection of Rs 230 billions in Karachi from crimes.

*Asif Zardari's outburst against the military AFTER the report is published assuming its top leaders might be 'hooked and cooked.'

*COAS' public statement that the terrorists as well as their abettors and facilitators will be punished AFTER Asif Zardari's outburst.

*BBC report on MQM receiving funds and militant training from India.

*Landing of Scotland Yards' investigation team in Islamabad in connection with Dr Imran Farooq's murder.

*Dismal performance of the Sindh government in dealing with the heatwave causing over 1200 deaths.

*Complete silence in Washington, London, Riyadh and Dubai over the performance of the civilian government in Pakistan but the international media exholting the performance of the Pakistan's military.

Why is the federal government reluctant to impose the Governor's Rule in Sindh under a retired general as the new governor? Doesn't the breakdown of civil administration in Sindh calls for the Governor's Rule? Is the PM scared of the consequences of peace and prosperity returning to Sindh under a retired general as the governor?

Good governance is destined to come to Pakistan. How long can the present political system hold it back! Time is running out.
