Subject: Condemnation

London (PR) Pakistan Journalists Association UK (PJA) is deeply
concerned over the life threats to a senior Pakistani Journalist M
Iqbal Anjum and his family. It’s reported that a false case number
1817 / 2011 has been made against Mr M Iqbal Anjum and 80 years old
Baba Qadri, there is also reported that threatening behaviour arise by
DSP Aziz Ullah Khan in Bahawalpur, PAKISTAN while Mr Iqbal Anjum
performing in the line of his professional journalistic duty for his
organization.

It is to be notes that the Police officer who blamed is notorious in
sending threats to media persons and journalists in the past as well.

PJA is also writing to Commonwealth Press Union and NUJ (National
Union of Journalists) to highlight Journalists plight. PJA support the
freedom of media in general and works for greater rights for
journalists, associations and the networks.

PJA shows full support Mr M Iqbal Anjum and offers solidarity and
demands an immediate action from Punjab/Pakistan governments, Police
and the other authorities, so that perpetrators may be brought to
justice and has sought protection for Pakistani journalists who are
highlighting corruption, Mafia activities, and terrorism news in
Pakistan, especially in the most difficult circumstances.
