Bratkartoffeln (Fried Potatoes) - A German recipe
Using 3 strips of bacon will make this tastier while using butter or lard will increase the calories and fat content.
Serves 2.
220 Calories, 33 grams net carbs, 5 grams fat per serving.
1 pound potatoes, boiled
1 tsp salt
2 oz bacon, chopped -or-
3 Tbsp lard or butter
Peel the boiled potatoes and cut them into even slices.
Crisp the bacon in a pan.
Remove the crispy pieces, leaving the fat in the pan.
(instead of crisping the bacon, one can simply melt the lard or butter in the pan)
Add the potatoes to the pan.
When they begin to steam, sprinkle the salt over them.
Fry the potatoes, turning with a spoon or spatula.
Before serving or while cooking, you can add those crispy bacon bits and/or caramelized onions.
