So finally, I got my mutt with GMail working and as suggested by many people on net - I am trying to use goobook to query my contact list. According to the docs, I do not have to update any settings in my profile.

easy_install -U goobook - went smoothly and the app started with my .netrc.

If I do: goobook dump_contacts - I can see the output. Its also saved in the cache file. I can see the pickle format.

But whatever value I try to query with:

goobook query NAME

...

it just returns a blank line. Looking at the output of previous query - I know that a contact of that name exist. I have tried multiple names without any result.

Using the inbuilt Python with Mac OS X 10.6.

try

# goobook add "test" <email-id>
# goobook reload
# goobook query test

Check if this works ?

Dear Anto Daniel,

I have the same problem. I did as you suggested.

I was able to add a "test" entry which is also displayed when I search for it (query).

However, I am not able to search my contacts.

The test entry is not available on goolge so I thing its in the cache file.

It might be of interest that I use a organisational google account.

Hope you can help me out.

regards,
Robert

Hello,
I have the same issue here :
- I'm using a corporate account.
- Queries return empty result.
- Add a test contact from cli is OK (but is not list in a query after a reload)

Same config works fine with a gmail account (no Google App) i change credentials.
I presume the issue is on this detail.
Thanks for your help.

Thomas.

As I struggled with the same issue and finally solved it, here is a late reply. It appears goobook is only able to query contacts from the "My contacts" group in google contacts (that is, it doesn't see your google+ contacts nor all the "other contacts", that is everyone you've been in touch with but never deliberately added to your contacts). Why those are visible in the contact dump but not queryable is a mystery. Anyway, the quick fix is to copy every contact to "My contacts" in the google contacts interface, and everything works.

Seeing this issue as well on 10.10 Goobook 1.6 with homebrew python 2.7.8. All of my contacts are already in the My Contacts group on Google.
