I have someone willing to give a presentation for Chef[1]:

Reality-Based automation for the Cloud.
Chef is an open-source systems integration framework built
specifically for automating the cloud. No matter how complex the
realities of your business, Chef makes it easy to deploy servers and
scale applications throughout your entire infrastructure. Because it
combines the fundamental elements of configuration management and
service oriented architectures with the full power of Ruby, Chef makes
it easy to create an elegant, fully automated infrastructure.

How many people would be willing to make it on Tuesday? Or should I
put him off till the February meeting?

Well, if no one else responds we might as well do it at the chess
center if there's no conflict, or cancel it all together. I don't want
to have another presentation where only 5 people show up (including
the presenter).

I really wish that I could attend more GOLUM meetings. Unfortunately
time has not been on my side lately, and as of yesterday down to one car
for at least two weeks. I really do appreciate that there is a user
group even if I can't attend meetings, and better still that there is an
opportunity to go which I'm sure others appreciate to.

Maybe a Google+ Hangout could be utilized? Just a passing thought. Not
sure how feasible something like that would be.

We could do a hangout, sure. I don't know how useful it would be for people like me with accessibility needs (I've only ever used Skype once) but I'd be willing to give it a try.

Personally, if there's a whiteboard and a projector I'll happily sit down for a quick knowledge transfer session. I want to practice this presentation at the very least. A smaller audience might make for a more engaging time.

I'm still interested if anyone's gonna be there. I do need to know whether it's actually gonna happen by sometime tomorrow though.

Thanks,
-Kevin

I should be able to make it, and I'm assuming Jonathan will since
we're planning on using his facilities :)

I need to start paying more attention to my email! I'm planning on coming, now that I know there's a meeting.

Well, there's no whiteboard at the Center, but we have a pretty nice projector.

MemphisPHP was sure the projector was stolen last night, but then someone found it.  Freaked me out thinking I was going to have to do a slide show on a 20 inch monitor.

My apologies. I had misplaced it, and I wasn't available to try and help find it because I was in class. Mike texted me and we got the location of the projector figured out. From now on, Mike and I will be sure it's where it's supposed to be.

No problem whatsoever, I was just joking around.  Thanks for letting us use the facilities with or without the projector.

So it sounds like we're on for a meeting at the Chess Center.

Jonathon,

Just in case, can you respond with the address and maybe some basic directions?

Thanks,
Richard

5796 Shelby Oaks Drive

Going on Sam Cooper towards Nashville, take a left onto Sycamore View (right after Southwest TN Community College) and the first left onto Shelby Oaks. We share a parking lot with the Al Chymia Shrine. Just keep a look out for our signs.

Jonathan,

FYI I've got some good stuff to donate for building computers,
including a Nvidia 7600GT, some DDR2 dimms, and some other odds and
ends.

I have the box of keyboards that was left at the last install fest - these belong to GOLUM - I'll be glad to drop them off at the Chess Center.

I've got so many keyboards to sell for the Memphis Computer Coop that unless they're donations, I'd prefer not to have more keyboards to hold onto.

What time do you normally meet there? My apologies if that's somewhere in this thread and I've missed it.

Thanks everyone for coming out to my presentation and for letting me ramble on afterwards. Sorry I had to scoot out so quickly, I was hoping to stay a bit longer. If anyone has any follow up questions just let me know. You can find me at this email address or @kevinnuckolls on twitter.

Thanks!
