There are many posts about the display not sleeping when idle. It will not turn off after inactivity, neither from the desktop, nor from the lock screen. I've tried everything!? This is on a PC (not laptop) running Windows 10 Pro.

If the user has configured a slide show to run on the lock screen when the machine is locked, this can prevent the display from turning off. The "Prevent enabling lock screen slide show" policy setting can be used to disable the slide show feature.

right after it, from PERSONALIZATION -> SETTINGS -> SCREEN SAVER SETTINGS, I chose pictures and select my folder, and of course i waited that 1 minute to see thescreen saver and screen stayed black. After a few tries on the screen saver i went back to LOCK SCREEN, (since i had the slideshow option selected this whole time for the Lock Screen) and noticed the part where you select the folder had disapeared. So i changed it back to picture, and back to slideshow until it appeared. and hit Windows+L to lock the screen, and suddenly it worked.

I am having a slightly different issue than the one this article is talking about. My issue is that the default (windows spotlight) background only shows after I enter the login screen. I have tried all of the solutions listed here and none of them have worked! If someone could help me with this, or send me to an existing article directly related to the issue I am having, that would be AMAZING! Thanks in advance.

Tried all of these fixes and none of them worked. For me the screensaver and slideshow functions stopped working after the last windows 10 update. Seem Microsoft continues the practice of reducing functionality whilst claiming everything is an improvement to the user experience.

Update: I found a temporary fix / culprit. As I mentioned above, I tried all the suggested actions and nothing worked. I was opening a folder and Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) crashed & reset (as it often does on Windows 10). I immediately used Win+L to lock my screen, and the slideshow is now working, the time & date are also displaying properly again. Explorer clearly has some issues in Win10, and apparently the slideshow & time disappearing is related to whatever is going on with it. So restarting it may fix the issue temporarily as it did for me. This would also explain why it works when I first turn my computer on before I have logged in or ran anything.

Whenever you turn on Windows 10 laptop or desktop, the first screen you will see is a lock screen. If you have a password setup, you need to type it to login to your computer. By default, Windows will setup a picture as your lock screen background. In this article, we will explain how to setup lock screen slideshow. This will enable the slideshow to run automatically with selected pictures when you lock the screen.

Gone are the days of the lock screen being a static page showing users and their login status. The Windows 10 lock screen looks sleek and provides you quick access to the information you need instantly. With customization options abound, lets take a deep dive into making the Windows 10 lock screen work for you.

In previous versions of Windows, only third-party utilities could change the lock screen background, but now this functionality is native to the system. Windows 10 comes with five different wallpapers built-in, and of course, you have the option to choose your own pictures. There is also a live preview which will show you what the wallpaper will look like on the lock screen with the clock superimposed on it.

Furthermore, you now even have the option to set a slideshow of different pictures as the background. Clicking on "Advanced slideshow settings" will give you some more options for the slideshow, including using only pictures that fit the screen, turning off the slideshow when running on battery to conserve power, turning off the slideshow after a set interval of time, and more.

Now in Windows 10, this feature is a lot more robust, with the ability to choose to have an app show detailed status information on the lock screen. In addition, you can also choose from up to seven apps to show quick status updates. To add an app, simply click on the plus sign and choose an app from the list.

This feature is useful for seeing important information on the fly. To give a real world example, you can customize your lock screen so that weather information shows up along with upcoming calendar events, email notifications, and upcoming alarms. Of course, if you prefer a minimalist approach, then you can choose to have no information statuses being displayed on the lock screen at all.

I am unable to use most of my photos on my lock screen because it magnifies them and cuts of the tops and sides (especially). Even if I 'crop' the photos first, they still are too large when they show up on the lock screen. The preview will look correct, but the finished product/lock screen itself is always "off".

i have done all the steps that lock screen requires to display spotlight images and i also have chosen the weather app to display info about my city's weather...unfortunately it doesn't work no matter what...it shows the same picture all the time which is a ''picture'' and not a windows spotlight image as i have chosen to display.....what can i do to fix it..? i even have run the command prompt admin and it said that no problem has found...strange huh?

I already disabled the carousel it in the options but the icon is still there on the bottom left, and at times when I check my phone it plays a little animation covering half the lock screen to "show me" the new feature.

Task Manager. Huge. This special screen (Exiting Programs) is your lifeline when a program seems to be locked up. Thanks to the Task Manager, you can quit that app and get on with your life.

Just want to add that the LOCK/UNLOCK disable completely solved my problem with the I Pad 2 shutting off unexpectedly. Unfortunately I had made two appointments at the Genius Bar but in both visits this solution was not offered. I've had no issues since I disabled the lock but don't forget to shut off with the top button because when you close the cover the unit will stay on and won't shut down until it reaches the time you have set for "auto lock".

I have removed the lock screen setting but did still logs every 5 to 10 minutes. I also get the complete widescreen with the Apple logo and have to press the on off button which then makes the screen go black and then when I press the home button and the lock screen comes on. I switched all manners of lock screen off even the option that when you close the iPad cover that the magnet does not close and start the lock screen even that is switched off.

Powered by the new ScreenXpert software, ScreenPad 2.0 now has a larger touchscreen that offers many new features and benefits. This interactive secondary touchscreen enhances productivity, allowing for more efficient workflow. It includes a collection of handy ASUS utilities to boost productivity: Quick Key enables one-tap automation of complex keyboard sequences, Handwriting for natural text input, and Number Key for rapid data entry. The revised smartphone-like interface is more intuitive for improved ease of use. Third party developers can also use ASUS API to optimize their software and user experiences for ScreenPad. The hardware is now also more energy efficient than its predecessor, allowing for longer battery life when ScreenPad is in use.

8. Q: When setting "only second screen" by setting the "Fn" and "F8" shortcut when the function key is locked, the main screen is displayed on the ScreenPad, when the external monitor is connected and "only second screen" is switched. Is it OK that the picture is still displayed on the ScreenPad instead of the external monitor?

9. Q: What can I do to switch other modes by setting "Computer Screen Only" by setting "Fn" and "F8" shortcuts when the function key is locked, and then using "Win + P" may not be effective?
A: Due to the "Computer Screen Only" mode ScreenPad power loss, please go to the Display Settings to adjust the screen order settings and use the F6 shortcut (or function key lock with the "Fn" and "F6" shortcut) to switch mode. To avoid this, you can update the ScreenXpert driver to 1.0.26.0, the ScreenXpert App to 1.0.20.0 or higher.
