to Play Golf
If you are looking for a gift for your Dad and he is a golfer, than
there are lots of great ideas that will sure to make his Father's Day
wonderful.  Some golf gifts for Father's Day are more difficult
to select than others, so we have provided a few choices, and what you
need to know about each gift before purchasing.
New Golf Clubs
A golfing Father will never be disappointed with a new set of golf
clubs, IF the selection process is done properly.  Buying a new
set of irons, a new driver, or a new putter is probably one of the
most difficult selection processes for a golf gift.  The reason
is that there are many different selections that need to be chosen in
order to buy the right club(s) for you Dad.  Does he currently
use forged irons, game-improvement irons, blades?  Does he have a
fast swing speed which would require a stiff shaft, or does he use a
regular flex shaft?  Does he have a preference for the type of
shaft?  Dynamic Gold shafts or Project X shafts?  Has he
been fitted for clubs in the past? Do you know his specifications?
This can be a daunting task.  Probably the best option
would be to grab one of his irons (or Driver if you are going to
purchase a Driver) and bring it to a golf store.  They will be
able to make a good assessment based upon the club.
One other option is to buy a gift certificate to a store where he can
purchase the correct clubs for him.  Gift certificates are not
always the best gifts, but they can save you a lot of headache in
trying to buy the correct clubs for your Dad.
A Round of golf or tickets to a PGA Tournament
Is there a PGA Tour event in your area?  Going to a professional
golf tournament is always a fun experience.  Check to see if the
local event attracts the top golfers, such as Tiger Woods or Phil
Mickelson.  Some PGA Tournaments attract more of the top players
than others.
Another idea is to buy a round of golf, or maybe 4 rounds of golf for
him and his friends at one of the top golf courses in your area.
He may not have played one of the higher-end courses in the area and
it would be well appreciated to play one of the better courses.
Weekend Golf Trip at a Famous Golf Course
Every golfer would like to play at least one round on a famous golf
course.  There are a few golf courses in the United States that
are historic and open to the public.  Buying a weekend golf trip
to one of these courses would be well appreciated.  Some ideas
for courses to play are Pebble Beach, Pinehurst (#2 course is the
famous layout), Doral, Bandon Dunes, TPC Sawgrass, or Torrey Pines.
Golf Lessons
Golfers are always looking to improve their game.  Find your
local country club or golf club, and inquire about their golf
lessons.  Golf lessons can be purchased as a series of lessons
which is more desirable than a one time golf lesson.  This will
allow him to work on the tips the golf professional provides over
time.
Golf Accessories
There are many golf accessories that can be great father's day
gifts.  If your budget for a Father's day gift will not allow
some of the more expensive gifts, a golf accessory is the way to
go.  Maybe he needs a new golf bag, new golf balls, a golf cart
if he walks when he plays, or maybe some new golf apparel.
Any of these golf gift ideas will make for a great Father's Day
gift.  Some are more expensive than others, but you will be sure
to find an idea within your budget.
