1993 marked the final visit of Venerable Master Hsuan Hua to Taiwan. Observing the situation in Taiwan at the time, and despite his advanced age and failing health, the Master traveled tirelessly from place to place. He reserved not a shred of strength for himself, dedicating his entire heart and life to this land. Indifferent to honor or shame, unmoved by praise or blame, he persevered in "doing what he knew was impossible." His sole purpose was to "bring blessings to the people of Taiwan," in hopes of mitigating natural and man-made disasters.
The Dharma Realm Buddhist Books Distribution Association (DRBBDA) is the Taiwan hub of the U.S.-based Dharma Realm Buddhist Association. Founded in 1984, it has evolved over the past forty years from a nomadic existence to its current fully equipped headquarters, and from a lay Buddhist group to a Bodhimanda (place of practice) where monastics now reside.
On January 8, 1993, Master Hsuan Hua presided over the consecration of Buddha images and held a shaving (ordination) ceremony here. Despite his grueling schedule, he even accepted an interview in a small reception room.
We are specifically uploading the footage of that day’s consecration ceremony to let future generations witness how the Master presided over such an event, thereby providing them with guidance and inspiration.
