Hi. My name is Jamie. My husband and I are from Mississippi, and we
are anxiously awaiting a goldendoodle puppy from Paris' and Tucker's
litter that is due on 02/11/09. We are in the process of researching
the best type of crate/kennel to buy, the best food, and chew toys/
treats. I have really enjoyed reading posts on this site. We have a 5
year old dachshund, and we're a little nervous about introducing her
to her new sibling. We'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Hi Jamie! My husband and I have a 4 month old mini from Tilly and
Crimson's September '08 litter - you're going to love your new puppy!
Teri recommends Purina dog food, but our vet switched our dog, Palmer,
to Science Diet as soon as we took him and he likes it a lot better.
We add a spoonful of the soft chicken food to his dry food and feed
him twice a day now. When he was little, we kept food out for him all
the time. Also, if there's a Banfield vet near you, you can get pet
insurance...we definitely think it's worth it. You pay $20/mo and get
all of their shots, neutering, office visits, etc. We bought a 36"
crate like the one Teri recommends, but we have a mini, so you may
want a bigger one. Palmer actually likes his crate a lot - I was
worried that I would feel guilty putting him in there. I also
recommend putting a bell on your front door and training your dog to
ring it before you take them out. Palmer can tell us when he needs to
go outside now, so we don't have to play the guessing game. It's
wonderful!

Good luck!

Here are two pictures of Palmer. He is a NUT, but we love him so much! He's gotten bigger since these pictures and probably weighs about 18 pounds now. Palmer wasn't interested in the kong toys but loves anything that squeeks when he bites it.

Riley is adorable. :)

Here is Sunny who is also from Tilly and Crimson’s litter of minis.  She is goofy but so much fun and is also around 15-18 lbs now.  She did not do well on the Purina food so we switched her to Nutro Lamb and Rice.  It is much better for her.  She is also very comfortable in her crate.

Samantha & Stacy,

Thank you for sharing your photos.  I thought my red-head among all his white brothers & sisters was the odd ball.  He’s quite the attraction around here: at home and around town.  Thank you for sharing your sweet babies.

Attached photo of “Baby Theo” and current “big boy” Theodore.

Best of luck  as they grow….and p.s., we have pet insurance too and it has been the best investment we’ve made.

Hi Jamie--

We love our doodle, Theo and know your awaited bundle will bring you much
joy. I think Paris & Tucker are standards, as well as Theo's parent's, Alex
& Tula. If this is the case, we went through 4 crates while growing: the
one he arrived in from Teri (Theo arrived via Delta air), a 30" size as he
didn't adapt to the arrival crate but took to the new one, then a 36"
travel and we now have a permanent foldable wire crate 42". Should cost be
a factor, I sold all my extra crates and carriers on Craig's List.

Theo has responded best to Science Diet kibble and canned food. We also
feed high quality, low-fat treats like Vitalife Duck Tenders and Chicken
Chips. His people parents have spoiled him with too much people food and
he has developed mild pancreatitis. Having pet insurance has been a
wonderful reimbursement with this condition. Don't get this bad habit
started. We are adapting and learning to be good parents. Gravy canned
food irritates him and he has really not liked the consistency of the higher
priced foods (ultra, nature's best, etc.). We also learned he was
over-hyper with high grade protein kibbles (Evo) that some distributors try
to coax you to buy. Science Diet has been our jewel.

Best of luck with the new little one,
Adele Groote

Hello
Our dood Obsidian will be 2yrs old on the 31st of this month. (Blue &
Tucker)
We used the Diamond Brand food Teri recommended when we brought him home, he
did fabulous on this, however we switched him to adult food to early and he
developed an allergy and is now on Purina Pro Plan for Sensitive
Skin/Stomach which was a miracle for him. (it has no by-products and the
main ingredient is Salmon)
We don't feed him Science Diet, as our vet wanted, as it is full of
by-products, corn and other fillers that just aren't healthy.
Obi only gets snacks that are 100% natural as well, things you or I could
eat. He gets non-dairy yogurt & carob treats, peanutbutter treats, Carob
Chip cookies etc. We buy from 3 Dogs Bakery and Just Dogs Gourmet Treats. I
don't give Milk Bones as they can crystalize in the urine and lead to kidney
issues as they grow older. (I am a lab tech and have seen first hand what
Milk Bones do)
We do give him Chew-Lotta chews as they have fewer 'crud' in them than other
chews and are much safer than rawhides and pig ears for his digestion and
the chew-lotta has no choking hazard like the others...and well they last a
REALLLLY long time :)
Obi has only ever spent 3 nites of his life in a crate, he is quite spoiled
but trained extremely quickly. He is my daughter Harli's service dog so it
was important he learn to sleep with her from an early age, this began with
him sleeping in my bed then moving to hers at 12 weeks of age, which is when
he had gone 2 solid weeks of no accidents in the house.
good luck and have fun!! your life is about to change for the BETTER :)
Tami

Jamie! Yay! We have a doodle from Paris and Tucker. Prepare for a very
large, happy bundle of teddy bear doodle love! Paris and Tucker produce
stunning doodles (we are very prejudiced).

I, too, can't wait to see pictures of Doogie's new brothers and sisters. He
is a year and a half now - laid back and loving. People are blown away when
they see him. Congratulations...and we want pictures! All the best, Julie

Hello,

Jamie, I remember how excited I was waiting for our new puppy. His name
is Duncan and he is from Giselle/Tucker born 10/10/08. He is just the
best little guy!!!! He is already 32 pounds and growing like a weed...

Thank you everyone for the pet insurance information. It is something I
am going to look into...

I wanted to mention that Duncan (and my 1 year old standard poodle)
LOVE to chew on deer antlers. My local specialty pet store sells them
and they last forever. I know that the store owner says they are much
safer than the rawhide.

I have continued with the Nu Vet vitamins that Teri recommends and
Duncan loves the Wellness large breed puppy food...it has one of the
highest ratings for natural "human grade" dog food.

The crate is a must...he goes to his "house" all by himself when he
needs a break and is sleepy! He just loves it...

I wish you the best, you will be amazed how wonderful the goldendoodle
breed really is!!

No, Julie - You just state the facts!  I am Bella's (Doogie's Sister) mom - I should know;-)  I know, I may be a bit baised, too...

Jamie - So glad you decided on one of Paris and Tuckers pups, you will not be sorry!!

As far as recommended foods...  Bella has a sensitive stomach and we have done well with the Nutro products for sensitive stomachs.  We started her on the puppy formula, and she is now on the adult formula w/ oatmeal.  I know Terri also recommends this brand.

As far as good toys...  Bella loves the Kong toy - both the plain one and the one with the canvas fabric around it.

As far as crates...  They make a wire crate that you can partition off.  This way, you will not have to get a larger crate when your dog gets bigger.  We placed towels over the top of the crate to give it a homier feel.

Hope that helps - best of luck and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Jamie Smith

P.S  I have attached a few pictures of Bella so you can get a feel for what your new pup will probably look like when she gets a bit older.

Bella is GORGEOUS!!  Looks so much like Doogie and Daisy (Doogie's other sister).  You will hear from Penny, I promise.  She must be asleep or something.  They all look alike and are all awesome, stunning and gorgeous.

Yes, we are obnoxious.  :)  Great to hear from you, Jamie!  I'll see if I can get a picture off.  I'm not good at this like you all are.  I'll go to the file and send it separately.  Julie

Welcome Jamie!!!

Doogie's Mom (Julie) was right...I have to chime in about this one.
You will be getting a great pup! We all love our doodles from Paris
and Tucker. It's true that they make the most beautiful babies.

Our Daisy is about 65 pounds of sweet, loving, ornerness. Although
she loves to irritate our other dogs, who range from 5 to 10 pounds,
she knows how to play gently enough with them. I think your dachhund
will soon love having a new brother or sister.

Please post lots of pictures when you get your baby. They grow so
very fast, so I hope you will have your camera ready.

Congradulations!
Penny

I haven't read all of these posts as my computer was being repaired and am
trying to catch up. Two thoughts of caution:
It is not ok to leave a dog with toys without supervision in many instances.
Oprah had those 3 gorgeous white labs and one choked on a tennis ball with
no one around. So sad but with that info, it is good to know the supervision
needed. There is also a ball called a whipple ball but this applies to all
toys with one hole in them or kongs. There is a story circulating about a
dog who had this ball that had only one hole in it and it was trying to get
the food out. It's tongue got stuck in the vacuum, became swollen and
extended. In the end, the dog had to get it's tongue partially removed and
while it is living, the owner talked about how long it takes to feed the
dog, walk the dog etc and imagine the pain! Oh my. The photos were too
gruesome to forward. So please all, do be careful with what you get and how
you use it. Sincerely, Lorre

Hi Lisa,
Do you have a picture of Duncan? Nola is Duncan's sister. She is 20 pounds right now. She has her first "schooling" this Sunday with PetSmart. I bet Duncan is a smart boy, because Nola is extremely smart. I would love to see some pictures. I'll upload some of mine tomorrow and send them out. Thanks.
