Garden news - join in the parade tomorrow

[Golden Community Garden]

Buffalo Bills Day Parade - Saturday July 30th - Come join us in the parade, meet on Maple St. by 8:30 am

We'll have a pickup truck adorned with banners and will be walking in the parade and handing out brochures about the garden. 

Wear regular clothes, or dress up, whatever you like. It'll be fun! If you like, you can come early to help decorate the truck. Contact Matt (720-381-2420) if you have questions, or suggestions.

We'll be staged on Maple St between 9th & 10th. The parade starts about 9 am, and we'll be on Maple by about 8 am. (The garden's position is #63 behind the El Jebel Shriners.)

City Council approved signing an agreement with the garden for continued use of our current site. Yeah!

Things to do in the garden:

 

Weed out the grass between the north swale and the butterfly garden fence/raised beds and spread fresh mulch.

Weed the south front hillside and back native grass areas. You can walk out to weed. Weeding these areas completely just once will make a big difference in the establishment of our grass – see how good the north front hillside looks. 20 minutes of weeding will yield a lovely patch that you can think of as your own little piece of prairie. J

The new compost bins are in place. Thanks to those that helped make this happened! Please use these new bins as the other bin by the butterfly garden is full. 

• The compost team needs volunteers to level the bins (applying dirt and mulch where needed) and to mulch around the 3 bin system furthest west.
• And volunteers to help manage the bins. Contact Kara Edewaard, if interested.

Get involved in Golden

Interested in joining the Leadership Golden Class of 2012?  The deadline for application is approaching fast (August 1), but there is still a little time left, along with room for more in the class. 

 

Registration is simple.  Just go to www.leadershipgolden.org.  The link to the list of Class Sessions and the Applications are prominently displayed on the home page.  Applicants have their choice of filling out the application in Word of PDF format. Leadership Golden Alumni Association
