Can I plant anything right now? Yes, now is the time to plant cool season crops like peas. Before planting, soak pea seeds in water for a few hours to overnight to speed germination. The Boulder Culinary Group has a great planting guide; it is attached and also available online at
http://boulderculinarygardeners.org. Follow the outdoor temperatures; dates are only approximate.
Soil Amendments - This year each 10x10 plot can use 1/2 cubic foot (7.5 gallons) of compost (the amount calculated for plant health), and 2" (18 cubic feet) of topsoil. 7.5 gallons of compost and 3 wheelbarrow loads of topsoil. (Please double if you have a 10x20).
Time Tracking - Thanks to Mark Hesse, you can now track your time on-line: http://www.goldencommunitygarden.org/hours.html Please remember, it's your responsibility to keep track of time worked. (Work day leaders may track your time on those days if you remember to sign in.)
DUG is in Need of Gardeners To Take Survey:- New community gardeners are asked to participate in a short DUG gardener survey found at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ZFZ9MNB Please fill out the survey and pass along to other community gardeners. This will help DUG obtain funding grants.Media Requests: DUG often gets requests from the media to interview garden leaders or community gardeners. If you are comfortable being interviewed, please let us know and we'll send your information to DUG to be on a list of potential candidates for future requests.
