Hi all,
So I downloaded Golden Cheetah, and running it works fine, I imported
rides into it and it all worked. When I went to set up my power zones,
it wouldn't work. I put the file in the right place, and I set the
dates and zones correctly. But BikeScore and time spent in zones, etc
remain blank. Any insights into making it work?
Thanks
Kreuzberg

Heres what it looks like: (don't laugh at my unimpressive numbers, ha)

From 2009/10/01 until END, CP=210:
1, Active Recovery, 0, 115
2, Endurance, 116, 159
3, Tempo, 160, 189
4, Lactate Threshold, 190, 220
5, VO2 Max, 221, 250
6, Anaerobic Capacity, 251, 329
7, Sprinting, 330, MAX

I saved it to user>library>golden cheetah> user

This looks good to me. I copied into a power.zones file and it
seems to work fine.

I'm not sure what OS you are on, but on the Mac there is no space
and there are some capitals (which may make a difference) in the
path to the GoldenCheetah directory.

the proper directory is:
$HOME/Library/GoldenCheetah/*rider*

where *rider* is the rider directory containing your ride files. and
$HOME is your home directory.

Also be sure that you don't have an extension on the power.zones
file (e.g. check that it is not power.zones.txt)

you can also generate a power.zones file (to some degree) using the
preferences menu item.

What happens at a power of 159.5? What zone is that? Has the issue
of using
intervals that touch been discussed yet? What happens at those gaps
in the power zones?

Ok thanks for trying it...i double check to make sure i was doing
exactly as you said and I am, but it still isn't working. I just ended
up going into preferences and adjusting critical power from there, but
I would like to get the power.zones thing right.

Can you send your power.zones file to the list as an attachment,
copy/paste from e-mail may not yield the same file.

Also, now that you have set your cp via the GUI you should be able
to edit that power.zones file. as a check, just try to edit the cp
value in that file and see if the changes show up after you relaunch
GC.

Thanks,
Jamie
