There are two PRs relating to this functionality

So before I start work on implementing something I'd like to understand:
  • How useful is this work, can someone explain the benefit given both issues date back to 2021?
  • What is the implementation priority,  is import or export to be delivered first?
  • What is the expected capability, is the intention to match the FTP/Watts Erg file with the Garmin equivalents in the Fit workout, ignoring the other goals/targets supported by Garmin (speed, cadence, HR, etc)

Hi Paul

Honestly, not even sure whether my "use case" or "feature request" is
related to the issues you mention... but anyway, here my thoughts:

If you do a workout with GoldenCheetah, you get the Train->Target xdata
series. You can then plot target vs actual power. (see the attached
gchart and png)

If the same would be possible if you do an activity while following a
workout on my Garmin headunit... that would be great. In the graph on
garmin connect, the target power is visible. (see garmin.png) So I guess
the data is there in the fitfile somewhere. But currently not parsed
when importing into GoldenCheetah.

Hi Paul, it would be interesting to have more feedback from users but regrettably it doesn't seem to be the case in this and others threads.

I think the limited case ERG <> FIT could be handy but perhaps not that impactful since there are online converters s.t. https://whatsonzwift.com/convert/workouts and may be that explain the lack of interest.

The general case could be more interesting to think about planning workouts for other sports and could subsume the use case Poncho mentions above.
Cheers, Ale.
