Please delete this question if not appropriate for this Forum. This week our car was broken in by criminals, smashing a side window and stealing our 2 race bikes beside money, passport etc. just before training exercise. So we need to re-buy all our equipment. In terms of the new bike computers i struggle because we want to have R-R raw data recorded for analysis after the training ride (and compare with our history already managed in GC). The only one WE know for sure working with GC are the Garmin Edge Explorers. The company Bryton does not answer our emails, their BRYTON Rider 320 provides only HRM values without R-R raw data (after testing). Does the community know of current bike computers with R-R raw data embedded in fit-file? The manufacturers themselves do not elaborate about this question. Any hint would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

I think all Garmin Edge starting at least from 530/830/1030 allow to enable R-R recording: https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/edge830/EN-US/GUID-5BF2156B-9740-47F1-A564-FA22D55FDEB1.html, you can check the manual for newer models.

Hi Ale,

thank you very much for sharing your finding. That helps me a lot going forward. I am late in answering (Gendarmerie, Police, Insurance etc. require more time but this is another story).

I found 2 more data points which guides me to go with a Garmin bike computer.

(1) WAHOO: "Note: The Wahoo app/Wahoo GPS cycling computers do not currently support HRV recording/display. HRV display/recording requires a compatible app/device." https://support.wahoofitness.com/hc/en-us/articles/19230227508754-TRACKR-HEART-RATE-Information-and-Setup

(2) Karoo HAMMERHEAD: "From what I can determine the Karoo 3 does not record advanced HR metrics, like HRV, even when paired with a capable HR strap like the Polar H10." https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2024/05/hammerhead-new-karoo-3-review-upgrade.html

(3) Bryton or other lower cost alternatives: Was not able to find anything definitive.

(4) Smartphone Apps like FATMAXXER. I want to get away from additionally using a smartphone as it increases complexity during training and for post training analysis.

Thank you again for your dedication and hard work for such a great GOLDEN CHEETAH.

Robert
