Feature #219: Calculate "Virtual Power" in GC Realtime mode
http://bugs.goldencheetah.org/issues/219
Author: Darren Hague
Status: New
Priority: Normal
Assigned to: Mark Liversedge
Category:
Target version: 2.1
Patch Attached: No
Some users may be using GC in realtime mode on a turbo trainer with a well-defined power curve, on a bike with no power meter.
In these cases it should be possible to have a Power channel which is calculated in real-time, usually as a function of wheel rotation speed.
The virtual channel can be selected as part of the device configuration, along with the model of turbo being used (Kurt Kinetic wind, Kurt Kinetic fluid, Cycleops fluid, etc).
For extra credit, account can be taken of the power taken to accelerate between speeds and also of the power given back when decelerating. For example, a coast-down test can be used to directly measure zero power on deceleration, and this can be used to calibrate accelerative/decelerative power deltas.
