Hi

First of all, a HUGE thanks to all who contributed for this amazing software!

I've just downloaded this version and I have some questions regarding Train View. I'm using a 2011 MacBook Pro with Yosemite installed.

1 - I can't get VideoSync to open, it just sits on the bottom of the page, despite having 7 or 8 rlv files imported into it. Also, when I click on the options, they appear way up in the screen. (see pic)
2 - I can't import avi files. Tried mov and mp4 and worked, with avi files I get a warning. (see pic)

I think I also found a small bug: if I minimize GC, when I maximize it, it looses the toolbar and screws up the screen. I have to go to "View", "Show Toolbar" and click it twice for the toolbar to appear again.

Thank you for all the help you can give me.

Cheers

Sérgio

We hide the toolbar in fullscreen because of a QT bug. We hope to fix this / work around it better in the next release when QT5.6 is released.

Hi Mark,

Thanks to you and to all the contributors !

I can´t find the feature of "Training Plan" :S

I remember you said here in this group, that in the next version of GC (when the current version was v3.2) it will be included. Is it not in this v3.3 ?

Thanks !

Its planned in v4. We are now working on it. Damien has a mechanism to plan load "top down" and I want to look at selecting workouts "bottom up".

We will try and get development builds going to let people try it, but the main development effort will happen over Christmas and Easter.

It is in Debian unstable today, depending on what version of Ubuntu you
use, check the dependencies match, add the unstable repro install GC
and then deselect unstable, repeat when the next version comes out.

I am no Ubuntu expert but it looks like Wily 15.10 is the only version
with Gcc 5.5 .

I must confess, the dropbox syncing is super cool for backing up data for lazy people like me :)

I haven't been able to get Dropbox syncing working.  I did the authorization and that worked fine (confirmed by an email from DB) but when I try to upload, it just sits there at "Uploading 56100 bytes" (I left it overnight).  Any suggestions on what to do about it?  I turned off my firewall in case it was blocking it with no change.

Also if I click the cancel button on that uploading dialog box, nothing happens.  I can click the X in the top right and that closes it though.

thanks for any suggestions!

Oh. We should check for that... and the upload should error.
So its my fault and dropboxes fault too.

Will fix up for next release.

I have a problem syncing dropbox as well. I have signed in succesfully and I can open the folder and I see the files (.tcx, .fit). Also did the proper folder linking as described above.

Can it be that I sign in on my dropbox account and connect to this shared folder (the folder is owned by someone else) that it doesn't work?? I have edit rights though and I have exported data from GC to that folder just to check (it creates zip files).

We sync via zipped json files. You select a directory where they should be stored.
We do not expect any other files to be in the folder you select.

Can you read and write to the folder you selected and is it empty when you start?

I was able to add to Dropbox, and sync, by originally placing the files inside my GC athlete folder (which I've stored on DB for quite some time now), so I don't think this is an issue. I have since moved it to a separate folder dedicated solely to the .json zip files, however. Anyway, just from my experience it is working smoothly.

I can see all the files in the dropbox folder. The folder contains .fit, .tcx, .doc, .xls etc files. I thought when opening in GC I could select just those .fit (or any other file which GC permits for importing) which I wanted to load into GC. But from your response I take that I can only load zipped .json files into GC which are stored in Dropbox. Is the above correct Mark?

  • GC can use dropbox to sync across PCs.
  • We store data there as compressed json files.
  • Create or select an _empty_ folder on your dropbox in preferences.
  • Sync to that folder using the share menu > Synchronise Dropbox

I am having trouble importing files.

This is for a new install, I am importing files from my WKO+ folder (as I previously did on my version of 3.1 on a computer I no longer have).

The import files window hangs at step 3 Insert date and time.  It highlights one of the files (the earliest one, chronologically, last one copied) but entering the date does not allow me to hit save.

There is probably an error message in status about being unable to read the file ?
Can you share an example that doesn't work?

We do not support, and will not support WKO4 files, proprietary binary formats need to die.

If you scroll up you will see files without a date and time, probably a different file format or something.

Hi, Mark

Thank you for the quick reply.

I've set up a profile, converted my avi file to mov and selected the respective rlv file on video sync but I can't get it to work. The video plays on whether I'm pedalling (speed not zero) or not. I tried it on a desktop PC and everything works flawlessly. I'm sorry if I'm posting a dumb question but I'm new to training with rlv.

I have another question: I have Garmin Vectors and a GSC-10 speed/cadence sensor. When I'm on the road, the Vectors take precedence when collecting cadence data, so the GSC-10 is only for collecting speed data. I have taken the magnet off my crank. The problem is when I try to create a profile on GC that has both sensors (Vectors and GSC-10), I loose cadence since on GC (I believe) the GSC-10 takes precedence over Vectors when it comes to cadence data. It's no big deal, it's just a matter of appending the magnet to my crank again, but I think that the behaviour of GC should be to grant precedence to Vectors, don't you think?

Thank you again for all your work and dedication!

Cheers

I have scrolled up carefully. All files have a date and time and are noted as verified (and are wko+). The only one highlighted is the earliest chronologically.

ie if it is due to particular files being probematic, I can't see which ones

I will try in smaller batches of files.

I added the Debian Unstable repository to my Other software sources. Version 3.3 was found (via Synaptic Package Manager), however upon installing it warns me that lots of packages will be removed (and most of them seem to be essential). So I didn't continue... Any help on this?

I also tried to convert the fedora rpm package using Alien, without any success as well...

Are there any other options to get it running on Ubuntu?

Kind regards,

There appears to be only one version of Ubuntu that 3.3 might run on.
The problem is that Ubuntu has yet to catch up with the latest changes
in Debian, the change to a newer compiler Gcc which affect all packages
and Qt. Ubuntu has a fixed release cycle (Sid is rolling) so it may be
best to just wait for the next Ubuntu release then GC 3.3 should
install OK from Sid.

Hi Mark

I've been using my BSXInsight for a week or so now, the only anomaly I can see appears on the summary screen where the min SmO2 value doesn't appear to record properly. Average and maximum are good but minimum always equates to the max figure. I'm importing the BSX file by the way.

Apologies if I missed a reference, but it is not obvious how to get rlv's working and imported into GC.

I have built it on Arch Linux, I can get a video 'chart' up but no way seemingly to associate the workout to a video, I am using the robot to test this initially.
Also, I suspect that the non Smart Bushido is not supported.

Thanks,

You need to highlight the video, the Rob and the phone file. You can ride it using any trainer but obviously you won't get simulated resistance. I really like the RLV feature!

The video widget is up

I don't see how to run a rlv as a workout or whatever.

It's now seeming like there is something missing as a result of the compile...

Seems like you have to drag the 2 icons. Just put your mouse on top of the icons click and hold and drag them up.

I should have been more clear, those are the only 2 views I have. I can see the contents of those two views.  I see my test device and some (apparently) default workouts. (Manual erg mode and manual slope mode) Clicking on these default workouts has no effect.

Initially I was looking for a how-to or video to see what I was missing but it is starting to seem like something didn't compile right...

You need to drag up so you can see all of the panes in the left sidebar.  There should be devices, workouts, media, and videosync.  You select your "device" which would include all of your Ant+ sensors and a trainer if you had a smart trainer.  If you are just using a "dumb" trainer, you can still set up Ant+ speed/cadence, and set virtual power (or use your power meter).  Then, you have to select the PGMF file in workouts, the movide file in Media, and the RLV file in VideoSync.  I have attached a screenshot of all of these things being selected.  Right after you press "play" the video should show up in the Video chart.

Ok, traced back to something I changed trying to find a seg fault when the program started.

I have it working with the robot, but the video player does not show the overlay for speed, etc.
Nor am I able to display the gradient or a the upper picture you have in your display. What are those widgets? I tried all available and all settings that I could find.

The video overlay for speed, etc. is complicated, see the thread on Video Overlays recently where I explain.  That's a newer feature.

The gradient is provided by adding a Telemetry chart set to the "Target Power" source.  This gives gradient in slope workouts, as opposed to power.  The "upper picture" probably refers to the Workout chart.

I think it's referring to the ability to force GC to plot SmO2 as the cadence channel. If you have a Garmin Edge you can set the Insight to be the speed/cadence sensor then when you've got a download from BSX in the form of a csv file you can import that into GC. It then recognises that the source device is BSX Insight. I stand to be corrected but I think that's as far as the support goes practically.

Thanks, I will look for that thread!

I don't mind not having the overlays if all the telemetry is available, it does look nice though.
