Hi , I am still having no luck in getting Golden Cheetah to connect to my trainer via ant +. I have tried almost everything I can find:

Mac OS 10.14.6
GC version 3.4 ,also tried  3.5 Dev
Switched off bluetooth ( phone and Mac)
Switched off Garmin express + made sure it is not running in back ground.

When I go to train -> add device -> Ant+ FEC  , it does not find the trainer.

I have checked that the Ant+ dongle is connected to Mac :
Apple Logo -> system Info -> USB -> USB3 Bus

ANT USB-m Stick:

  Product ID:    0x1009
Vendor ID:    0x0fcf  (Dynastream Innovations Inc.)
  Version:    1.00
  Serial Number:    049
  Speed:    Up to 12Mb/sec
  Manufacturer:    Dynastream Innovations
  Location ID:    0x14200000 / 14
  Current Available (mA):    500
  Current Required (mA):    100
  Extra Operating Current (mA):    0

The only thing that seems a little fishy is when trying the instructions on https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/wiki/Realtime-set-up
when I write the do the instructions :

"For the Garmin USB2 stick, newer versions of OSX should find the stick. To check this is the case, start Terminal, run the following command and then insert the USB stick:

tail -f /var/log/system.log

You should see the device being inserted and recognized. "

no message is given. Could this be an issue with usb2 vs usb3 ? ( I doubt it cos they backwards compatible....)

Finally - I can connect straight away with the same Ant+ dongle via sufferfest App. ( but obviously I make sure that is not running when I try to connect with GC)...

Any help appreciated ! - Are there any logs etc that might help with debugging ?

Are you using an usb-c to usb-a converter?

Hi , I am not using any USB converter for ANT+ stick, it is USB A straight into my 2015 13 inch macbook pro.  I have also tried the very latest version of GC - v3.5 RC2X.

any help appreciated.

There is an experimental build using libusb-1.0.23 you can try to see if it fixes the problem, it can be downloaded from: e: https://transfer.sh/1o1i1/dev-prerelease-branch-master-build-3347.dmg, feedback is welcome.

I am experiencing the same problem.
I tried version 3.4 and 3.5 (Build 3982).
I also tried it on ArchLinux (making sure my user is part of the group that can access /dev/ttyUSB0) and Windows 10 (separate computers), both with no Luck.
I tried USB2 and USB3 ports as well.
On Win10, connecting via Bluetooth did not work either.
On the same Win10 machine, Zwift picks up the ANT+ Signal and connects via Bluetooth without problems.

Interestingly, when I try to pair a device with Golden Cheetah, it lists all Sensors that I would expect, and even a field with the name of my trainer (Tacx Vortex Smart).
But it does not list any ANT+ Id, nor any measurement Values and the status remains "Searching...).

The debugging output of GC lists this (excerpt):
Found a Garmin USB2 ANT+ stick: "/dev/bus/usb/001/013"
libusb
: error [op_clear_halt] clear_halt failed error -1 errno 32

** CLOSING CHANNEL 2 **

Is there anything else I should try?
I appreciate any help.

I am trying to get startet with GC/Indoor Cycling and have hardly any experience (but I do have experience with computers ;-) )

Hi, build-3347 works fine and I can now find my trainer power and control channels. :-)

The only issue now is that when I download a workout from erg.db and ( which all seems to work and I see the profile is in the workout window).
When I press that start button , the timer start ( for 1 sec ) and then the workout stops and asks me to save the workout file dialog box.

If I press start again it just keeps doing the same thing. Any suggestions ?

Not from me, this was my last attempt, I give up on this since I can't debug it, sorry.

I have found that I can compile the code from git on all of my mac computers (old and new mac mini's, mac pro, and 2013 macbook pro).
3.5 RC1 was working from the DMG, 3.5 RC2x did not work (but I think Ale may have fixed it since I downloaded the RC2x I have).
However, I have always had good luck compiling from scratch with the latest libusb 1.0 and libusb-compat on the MacOS.

Have you tried compiling the code from scratch on the target?

Hi , think I have sorted everything :-)

Can now connect to trainer via Ant+ using the dev build with USB lib , and if I download a workout file .erg file  directly from trainerday.com , I can start the workout and it runs fine.

So it looks like I am good to go for a winter of training. Thanks to the GC team - great software.

Were you able to figure out why the downloaded workouts from erg.db were going to the save dialogue @ 1sec in?

I've been seeing the same behavior on v3.5

Attempting to open the same .erg2 files using v3.4 results in a message about the workout not being a valid format.

Everything sort of points to some kind of file parsing problem, but I just starting reading about all this yesterday, so I'm not very knowledgeable yet.

thanks

Hi , i managed to get downloaded erg dB files working by downloading them outsideof gc, then use the workout import dialog . Not sure why what’s the difference but seemed to work for me .
