Hello all,

I'm getting what appear to be anomalies in my bicycling power data, and presumably, it's also throwing off my kilojoule total.

For example, yesterday's workout, Overview tab: duration 2:45:00, max power (watts) 553 even though, scanning the Ride/Run graph, GC only shows a max of 406.6W.  Running 'Edit > Fix Power Spikes' does not get rid of the anomalous 553W number.  I looked at the raw data and found a single data point of 553 for one second.  There were zeroes on both sides.

In the same vein, in that same workout, GC shows 5 second peak power to be 404W whereas, pulling the top 5 seconds from the Ride/Run graph and calculating by hand only yield an average of 397.8.

I've attached a json file of that workout.

Thanks in advance for your help on this!

A single 553 watts second amounts to 0.553 kJ, so it seems unlikely, unless there are a lot of them.

Depends on your workout it can be real or not, I ride a lot of XC MTB these days and that kind of spikes are pretty common when going over a steep jump, but if you are riding steady on a trainer it is more likely due to interference. Fix Power Spikes DP has several options you can play with, see https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/wiki/UG_Special-Topics_Activity-Processing#edit-tool-fix-power-spikes, but if it is a single spike perhaps it is easier to manually fix in Data > Raw Data tab.

Okay, thanks for the quick reply!  I'll check it out.  And thanks for being there...

Hi David,

I had similar power spikes recorded in the past, maybe this guidance will help: https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/wiki/ANT--and-BTLE-Troubleshooting#data-spikes-and-dropped-connections

Paul.
