Hello,

I am using Golden cheetah 3.6 build 4009

The versions of the last few months are really really slow on my system.
A simple switch between tabs is long, entering information in "Details" for example is long.
It got way too slow for me.

I run with a stryd and the large amount of data it records and have always noticed a significant difference in speed between certain activities.
The lightest: a cycling activity then a cycling activity with power pedal and therefore a lot more data and in the extreme: a running activity with a stryd and therefore a lot and a lot of data.

To better understand I created a new profile: without activities and with the default Golden cheetah tabs.
I load only one activity (a stryd running activity) and it's still so slow....
I was worried that adding tabs (graphs) and sometimes in python would slow the system down ... but it's not that.

Are there options to be avoided or checked if we want to free the cheetah ?
Thanks.

There is advice on troubleshooting here (it is linked in the banner message at the top of google groups):

Thanks Mark,

I have gone through all the recommendations,

I have the impression that Graphics are slow on my laptop //Windows 10 and Later immediately allowed the program to be less slow.
And I have to look into topic  Windows font rendering issues. I haven't tried that (command line) and I think I'm affected.

Thank you for this quick support. I hope these two actions will restore the cheetah's speed.

@Arnaud I was also experiencing graphics slowness until today when I tried the --no-angle option.

If you want to avoid using cmd every time you launch the app, you can bake it in the shortcut properties. I'm not sure if it will carry over each version update though, but worst case if it doesn't you experience the slowness next time you upgrade GC and that would be a pretty obvious reminder :

@Mark the only slowness I am left with (and I can live with) is the first time I open the Trends tab it takes a while. I am not able to reproduce this slowness when I change the Date Ranges within the Trends tab, so I am not sure what is causing that cold start delay to the Trends tab. If I had the choice between experiencing the Trends cold start slowness when opening the app (and assume the fixed cost will be reimbursed if every user opens the Trends tab at least once in their session) or when first opening the Trends tab, I would prefer the first option. When I start GC, I know that my many activities, charts and metrics could take a while to calculate, so I start the app and do other stuff in the mean time. If the cold start delay is incurred when opening the Trends tab (like currently), then it means I have to wait a bit on top of the wait I already incurred at the app start. Maybe other users have other experiences, I will let you see what you do with that info!

Thanks for the hard work and dedication!

@Mark if you have no a priori on the cause off the top of your head I can try and isolate the problem and let you know what I find! Please let me know.

Thanks,

Likely just caching content- this only occurs the first time you open a view to improve performance for the rest of your session.

Thank you Mark! I will not investigate any further then.

If you have a lot of Trends charts, to organize them into several Perspectives may help.
