Hi,

i'm using garmin forerunner + stryd footpod
i have disabled garmin native power, and stryd is recording runpower, and additional metrics (impact load, cadence,...) in a set of developer fields in the fit file

when syncing my garmin connect with golden cheetah, the power metric is showing as zero. in a way this is correct: garmin native power is switched off.

Is there a way that i can alter the mapping from golden cheetah to the fit file, meaning: can i link the golden cheetah power metric to the developer field instead of the current mapped field.

if yes:
- can i do this on a per-activity type basis? ie: only for running. For my cycling activities, i'm currently correctly getting my power pedals data, as garmin has these natively mapped to their power field vs a separate developer field

- if their are other developer field of intrest, can i also map those
1/ eg map their cadence field to the exisitng golden cheetah cadence field
2/ If i don't see the metric in golden cheetah, can i add them to a relevant tab, for example: have the developer field leg stiffness plotted on the stress tab

for clarification: all the metrics i'm referring to are embedded in the fit files, and I can also see them all in the details view of past activties, but they are not plotted in the analysis (so power shows as zero, while the developer field has the power listed)

thanks!

Mapping from Developer to Standard fields happen automatically when the corresponding standard series is not present in the FIT file, otherwise you can map by copy/paste (see Editor in the wiki) or programmatically (see Python Data Processors in the wiki)

Developer fields are stored as XData in GC, they are not plotted or summarized by default but you can add them, see the documentation for the Activities > Performance Chart / User Chart and Custom Metrics in the wiki.

Since Stryd questions come frequently a forum search may help too.

I have the same set up as you: FR + Stryd.

In GC, I do this:

Import Garmin FIT file
Clear Power column in Data/Basic Data screen
Copy Power-2 from Data/Developer screen
Paste Power-2 to Power column

I have my Stryd connected to my watch as a Footpod and use the Stryd Workout app: https://support.stryd.com/hc/en-us/articles/4665112026775-Optional-Pace-and-Distance-from-Stryd-

Apparently, this will mean that Garmin’s native distance and speed comes from the Stryd. However, the Speed and Distance columns in the Basic Data and Developer screens are different. I’ve asked Stryd about this on Fb but didn’t get a response. Regardless, the distance and pace in Garmin Connect and Stryd PowerCentre are the same as GC.

You can download the Metrics (via ‘Options/Metrics’) that Pepe has created (revised in December 2022) plus the one I uploaded for Impact Loading Rate, if you have the 2022 Stryd.

I have attached all my various Stryd related charts, metrics, etc. Maybe it will save you some time.

Hi Joss,
thank you immensely for this very complete answer! I'll have a thorough read.

In the meantime i had built the following workaround:

- I already use intervals.icu as my mobile actitivity tracker platform, GC works on a desktop, intervals.icu works on anything with a browser and is also extremely powerful - also very configurable
- i let all my garmin activities automatically sync to intervals.icu
- i let intervals.icu automatically export each activity as a separate fit file to my dropbox account > this file i can then manually upload to golden cheetah (so I don't need to manually download each activity from garmin connect, the file  sits ready in my dropbox folder to just drag-drop
- the intervals file has the full fit data so basic, developer, extra field are all present...
- as i have garmin native power toggled to off, I can just copy paste power-2 to the existing power column (which is filled with zero's as garmin power is switched off), and as you explained: all golden cheetah charts are now populated.
