How do I change the location of the athlete library from default to a new folder on D: drive - GC 3.7SP1 (Win)?  So far it refuses to change and remains at default.

I've tried this a number of times.  It does not work.  When you change the location to an empty folder on another drive and save the dialog, GC says it will restart when you save, but it does NOT.  When you manually restart, the Athlete library is still the default location of C:\Users\(name)\AppData\Local\GoldenCheetah\(athlete name)  The configglobal-general.ini file still points to this location.

This has to be a bug.

Can it be a problem of permissions on configglobal-general.ini?

That is likely the last athlete open, the Athletes library doesn’t include the athlete name and it is saved in GoldenCheetah.ini, this is explained in the wiki page I linked above and its links.

I have carefully followed the instructions in the above links, and this still does not work.  I have uninstalled, then reinstalled (as administrator), and still cannot change the Athlete Library location no matter what I do.  GoldenCheetah.ini only contains the name of the last opened athlete, not the explicit library location.  I don't know if this has any bearing on the issue but when installing, the included VC++Redistributable refuses to install as I already have the 2105-2022 VC++ Redistributable (X64 and X86) on my system.  Also, R is not packaged in the installer and is not present on my system.  Other than this, GC appears to function correctly in all aspects.

This is a fragment of my GoldenCheetah.ini:

[General]
...
homedirectory=C:/Users/amtri/AppData/Local/GoldenCheetah
...

homedirectory key indicates the athlete's library location, if not present a default location for the OS is used, IIRC.

Thanks very much for that.  The homedirectory= entry in my GoldenCheetah.ini was blank, so I manually added the desired path and now GC recognises the new library location.  For some reason the options dialog in GC is not writing the new entry into GoldenCheetah.ini.  GC is updating other settings in the .ini file, just not the homedirectory.

For the time being it appears you have to manually edit GoldenCheetah.ini to change the homedirectory.

Yes, it will be fixed in the next build:  https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/pull/4792

The fix was implemented after v3.7.1 release, it is included in https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/releases/tag/v3.8-DEV2601

GoldenCheetah.ini (for windows) is located in C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\goldencheetah.org
Look for the entry homedirectory=  and then type in your desired location.

I haven't tried the next development release yet.  Waiting for the next stable release.

It is not always the case with DEV versions, but in this case I am pretty sure v3.8-DEV2601 has less bugs than v3.7-sp1 besides more features.
