People:

I've been using GoldenCheetah to look at TCX data (heart rate and bike data) from my Garmin FR50.

I also have GPX data from my phone (using "myTracks" app on an Android phone) or a Garmin etrex legend hcx.

Is there a way to join these 2 data sets and then look at them with GoldenCheetah ?

One problem I can think of is that the FR50 clock is free running (and might be set wrong or on the wrong time zone), whereas the GPS clock is perfect.

Cheers,
Ken

I think the simplest was I can think to join these would be

Import each into GC separately
Export each as a .csv
Use a text editor or spreadsheet program to merge
Import the new file into GC
Delete the original rides

I just tried importing a GPX file into GC3 and exporting it as a .csv but the latitude and longitude values were lost in the process.

Dear Rohan,

Could you send me your gpx and garmin files ?
I have a beta version of GC with merge option. I can try with your files.

Are the files synchronized (started at the same time ) ?

Hi Damien,

The fiels are attached. The GPX file was exported from Strava as it was created with Android and I was hoping to merge it with an srm file. The start times aren't in sync.

Cheers,

Hi Damien,

I exported it as a GPX file and then uploaded it into STRAVA. It looks to be spot on.

I just exported it to Strava direct from GC3 but the start point was in the wrong continent. Apart from that I think it is ok.

The problem when copy- pasting GPS data from one workout to the other is you will lose accuracy (5 decimal positions) and your route will look like you where drunk (take a look at the picture).  This is a known bug pending resolution.

You can join files, but not merge. Someone wrote a merge wizard a while back, but I cannot recall what happenned to it. We should add it to the feature list.

I made some months ago a wizard to merge 2 files on GoldenCheetah.
This patch was not commited because you need to "synchronize" start of files and I wanted to add this feature.

To test this wizard you can send me 2 files you want to merge and I send you back the merged one.

Is there any update on this feature?

I´d love to see this merge feature too!

At this moment, I use Ergomo for Power, Polar RS800cx for HR and workout/interval planning and polar G3 or my mobile phone for GPS recording - 3 different files which represent one workout. Today, you have to choose, which file is your lead and add manually the info from the others.
