Hi,

Is it possible to link to Golden Cheetah?
My Edge 1000 uploads my rides automatically to Garmin Connect and that to Strava.  So when it's on Strava it should be cool to have it in my Golden Cheetah by just pressing a button somewhere to sync!

Anyone any idea's?

Thanks in advance

Peter

This feature is work in progress for v3.5, you can try it downloading and installing the last development build from https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/tree/v3.5-DEV1708

The Share > Add Cloud Account... wizard allows to authorize your Strava account and enables a new menu  Share > Synchronize Activities > Strava

Bidirectional synchronization is working but there still some known limitations:
- On Download gaps in recording s.t. generated by Garmin Smart Recording are not automatically filled, this can be fixed using Edit > Fix Gap tool, but Laps get out of synch and pool swims are not imported correctly yet.
- On Upload laps are not synchronized and you cannot restrict which data series to upload.

Hi,

Do you know the current status on importing to GC 3.5? I'm running build 1710 on MacOS and even after adding and authorizing Strava (same for Today's plan) in GC and confirming they are listed in Strava as connected, I don't see anything under Share > Synchronize Activities (menu doesn't open anything).
Thanks a lot for any insights!

Never mind, I figured it out and it works (I can't believe it!). It's great to finally download from strava with the click of a button.
At least in MacOS, trying to add account as Share > Add cloud account doens't seem to work (I get authorized but it seems not to stick).
Anyways, selecting Preferences > Athlete > Accounts and adding strava there works flawlessly. Now when I select Share > Sync activites I can reach the import menu for strava and move on.
Thanks,
Fred

Share > Add Cloud Account does the exact same thing, so likely finger trouble.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the feedback. Before I post here, I had already tried three times adding either Strava or Today's plan account the way you mentioned. I always went well up to a certain point (after OA authorization, I entered my login and pass for the web service and it returned "auth successful" or something like it. Nevertheless, nothing else happened after that. I didn't have the new option on the menu to sync ("share > synchronise activity" was empty). After following the other route (in preferences) it instantly worked.
At least on my install of this build in MacOS there seems to be something blocking the authorization thru the share, add cloud account menu (no idea why).
Thanks again! Great work!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but is there some way to delete uploaded Strava files permanently? If I delete some activities, they resync to GC as soon as I reopen the program. I've tried deleting them from the User/bak folder, and even tried to delete my Strava account from GC, but new activities (and the old ones) keep on syncing.
(I'm on Mac High Sierra, GC 3.5 1710)

Thanks!

Out of interest Ale, does the Strava sync pull a .tcx file, or a .fit file?

I'm still pulling the .fit files from Garmin so that I don't lost all that juicy 'extra data' that .tcx strips out (LR balance, Vertical oscillation, etc)

Neither, the Strava API provides a set of streams for the most common data series which are merged to build an activity file
