Erg files are stored in a different place to ride files. Its all a bit confusing and perhaps should be fixed before we release v3.

In the preferences pane under general you will see a 'workout library' setting. This is where erg files and the like are stored.

It would be really nice if we could just drag and drop erg/media into train view to add them.

I will look at both of these over Christmas -- I think its all a bit crappy at the moment.

I am trying to use a text file to create an erg file that can be used within GC.  I have a number of other erg files downloaded from the ErgDB that I have been running with no issue.  If I copy, paste and rename one of the files that do work in the folder specified in the About tab in the software, it does not show up in the Workouts list.  Other files with *.erg extensions also are not recognized by the software.  Is there something I need to or can do to put an externally created custom erg file into GC?

Thanks!

That worked just fine.  I just find it odd that the erg files that are downloaded from the ErgDB don't go the same place.  It would be less confusing if all the erg files went the same place, in my opinion.  Thanks for the help!

No problem, just found the 73 summits.com site for generating workouts and got my own workout into the database and downloaded to GC.

Thats odd.

But anyway -- I am working on a library management for workouts and videos and will be pushing an update in the next week that will change this area quite radically; GC will find content in the same way a music app finds MP3s. But will also support drag and drop, import etc.

I'll post an update soon.

Mark

Hi, I've just been trying to do the same thing, create my own .erg file to be able to use it in train. The workout wizard creates and saves it fine but then what? I dodn't seem to be able to get Train to recognise that it exists. Just wondering what Seth meant with "That worked just fine." Have they been able to get their own file to work?

I just pushed a series of commits, you can now;

1. scan a set of folders for ergs and videos (tools->scan for..)
2. import an erg file by selecting it (tools->import workout...)
3. Drag and drop an erg or video.

If you import/drag a video we only add a reference to it -- we don't copy it, since they are so big. We do copy workouts since they are small.

You can remove references at the same time you set search paths and scan using tools->scan...

If this sounds too complicated don't worry about it. Drag and Drop should keep most people happy without having to think.
