Apologies in advance if this a monumentally dumb question, but I couldn't see an answer from searching the posts.

I have a Tacx Genius trainer with ANT+ USB that is not recognised by GoldenCheetah when it scans for ANT+ devices (it finds my Garmin HRM and speed/cadence sensor no problem). I have the TACX motor brake and head units powered up and have scanned multiple times with the ANT+ in close proximity to them, but no luck. Which made me wonder if the Genius was actually supported by GoldenCheetah? Or will I have to continue to enjoy the reliable (cough), high quality (cough) experience of the TTS 4?

Many thanks

The tacx genius smart is supported via ANT FE-C, I think there are a few users here that have one.
I'll let them elaborate on getting it to work :)

PS: there are no dumb questions [unless they are already answered in the FAQ! ;) ]

Many thanks  - also many apologies - to be exact, I have an i-Genius (without Multiplayer - https://www.tacx.com/products/trainers/i-genius), not a Genius Smart. Does that make a difference?

I don't think it is. We support the Fortius (well, its being fixed by Dave Waterworth) but not the Genius.

Sorry

The "non smart" iGenius doesn't support ANT FE-C, but i read somewhere that Tacx has just released an HW upgrade that will make the old iGenius become "smart" by replacing part of the engine.

Not sure if an end user is supposed to do this on his own or via local stores; don't remember the price, but i recall it was something around 180 € or so.

You might as well email Tacx support to gather more info, or google around :)

Update: Checked with the importers (Fisher Outdoor) and they have no record of current availability - though they did have a pending upgrade scheduled for delivery March 2016. Having said that they were not exactly certain that this upgrade definitely was the ANT E-C one for the non-Multiplayer iGenius T2020. Whoopeee (not) back to TTS4...

Thanks anyway for all the help here - much appreciated

Further update: found it. Procedure and price (EUR181.50 - Mario was almost spot on) here: http://www.tacxdata.com/files/support/genius/geniussmart/Genius-smart-replacement.pdf
So (in theory - based on my previous dire experiences with Tacx) this upgrade will provide ANT+ FE-C support for the iGenius T2020 and Tacx claims will thus provide "connection to Trainerroad, Zwift, Kinomap, veloreality and other applications that support FE-C".
We'll see

Great news. If you get one do let us know how it goes.

Cheers
