I have a new client with historical power file data in GC that I need.

They are having trouble trying to locate/send files so I can import them into WKO+. Are the files in GC stored in a folder somewhere? Do they need to be exported in a different format?

I had a search in here but didn't see much on the bulk export of files from GC or on file location if there are readily accessible.
I can't see such options in the GC menus, just single file export and nothing about where files are stored.

The help/wiki page link in GC doesn't work either.

Any hints for my client?
Thanks

If you click on "Help -> About Golden Cheetah" you'll see where the data files are kept.

v3 has a bulk export. I don't remember whether earlier versions do.

Use v3, v2.1 is very old now. We'll be releasing very soon.

Activity->bulk export, you can export to PWX for WKO+ since its their own format. Although they don't document any constraints on field values, so you may have more joy with Garmin TCX which is better documented.

It is version 3 but I don't have that option in the menu. But it's been some time since I installed it so must be a more recent feature. I don't know what version the client uses, will check.

Looks like all the client's 2013 GC data is toast though, they can no longer locate it.

Where do they get latest version from? The GC website has version 2.1 listed only as stable.

I stopped installing and avoid opening GC3 unless I really have to because it kept crashing my laptop.

v2 and v3 files are kept in different (but nearby) directories.

I have gone back and forth between 2.1 and 3 a bunch, and used many different builds of 3 including ones that crashed.  I've never lost data, although I have had to look for it a couple times.

In any case one should always make a copy of every ride file before importing it into your analysis software.

Yeah - it could well just be his PC hard drive was toast and this was collateral damage, not sure.
Manage to retrieve some files in the end, but pretty patchy. Would have been nice to see the file history in full. No matter, like I said to him, we'll focus on creating history :)

He'll know better now!

Hmmm, okay, just been looking at the comments on that page, and other users are reporting crashes with various versions.

Anyone suggest what version is stable?

Using Windows Vista. Apparently everyone tells me it's crap. It's worked for me though.

Dang, I forgot about that. Its only on 64bit.
Must look into it, since its a Windows only thing.
