Hi,
I'm using GC for some time but I don't use train mode.
I'm going to try Train mode, but i need some help to understand how to configure and what to expect.

My setup is this:

- Tacx Igenius smart
- 4iii power meter
- Hr + speed sensor from garmin
- remote control from Tacx
- Backtrack from tacx

My question is this:
How to configure all this in GC?

Ride a Gps ride from activities:
I create a workout from the activity, my question is this:
GC only use the gps or it uses the laps to?

Hope you can give me some Giddings.
Regards
Miguel

Hi Miguel,

For some reason this stuff is quite difficult to find out. I am now quite happy with GC training mode, so I'll tell you what worked for me running a Wahoo Kickr from a PC via BLE (blue tooth light.)

First, I am not personally familiar with any of your devices so I am just telling you the general stuff. I connected to all my stuff from a PC using BLE. For that to work I obtained a Bluetooth 4.2 dongle off amazon and a long cord so dongle was near the exercise gear and away from the electromagnetic noise of the PC. Without this I had trouble connecting.

1) Turn off/disable any devices (phones) that you previously used to connect to your exercise gear. You don't want your old connections interfering with the new ones you wish to create.
2) Turn on all your exercise devices, get everything ready to connect, put on your heart rate monitor so it turns on and is broadcasting a signal.
3) Start golden cheetah, go to Tools/Options then click the 'training' tab on the far right.
4) Click the tiny '+' in the lower right of the 'train devices' tab. Choose device type, etc. You want to choose ANT+/FE-C which will take you to the 'Add Connection Wizard'. You need to have all your devices active so that they all show up here. You will create a single profile that knows how to connect to them all.
5) In training view click the round power button looking thing. It should change color to Yellow. At this point you should be seeing numbers displayed (heart rate, power, etc.)
6) Walk before you run: get a simple erg file from internet and get it working with your gear in trainer mode. Select the workout, hit the 'play' button. If everything goes well you should start getting resistance according to the workout.

7) I never had a very good time with the 'create workout from ride' feature, they just never felt right, the charm was lost for me. But I am super duper happy using RLV files I downloaded from internet. The video sync is amazing.

I hope this helps. Training mode is fantastic once you have it working.

Hi Eric,
Thks for the info. I manage to pair all my sensors but the GPS ride, really don't feel realistic. I was expecting something like TTS4, and that don't really append.

I agree, create workout from ride didn't really achieve something I enjoyed.

Congrats on pairing sensors.

Before you give up on simulated rides though... download and try out the CH_UmbrailPass rlv file. The result might not be accurate (something is making it too easy for me) but it is very enjoyable and a terrific workout.
