I've been doing some erg workouts using Golden Cheetah 2.1 on my Mac laptop (most recent version of Lion).  These have worked well.
I bought the Sufferfest video "A Very Dark Place".  Using the latest build, (12/6/11) of Golden Cheetah Version 3, I could not figure out how to load the video.  My computrainer communicates fine, the erg file of a very dark place is loaded and the video player panel is loaded in training mode.  I just can't figure out how to get the video in to Golden Cheetah.  I tried dragging it everywhere I could think of and got an error message every time.  Any suggestions??

Thanks

Apologies, its not simple at the moment,

1. Go to options/preferences and select a workout directory (Tools->Options->Settings). This directory is where we look for workout files and videos.

2. Copy your video file to the directory you selected above.

The videos and workout files in the selected directory will now appear in workout library on the left.

3. Optionally, run Tools->Get Workouts from ErgDB - this will download workouts from the ErgDB internet resource .. save you having to write any workout files. They will be stored in the directory you selected.

I do need to clean this up, since its kind of 'evolved' and become more important.

Mark,
Thanks for the help.  I'm looking forward to trying this after work.  I did download the ErgDB workouts.  That is a nice new feature.

Thanks for all your work.  It is so nice to use my Computrainer with a Mac.  My old PC died over the summer.

Hey Rides2Slow,
If you have a TV with apple tv, you can stream the video to the tv wirelessly as long as you have imported the video in to iTunes library (iTunes/ File / Add to Library).

Mark's advise worked perfectly.

The one problem I had was syncing the ErgDB workout with the video.  I started the video and waited the nearly 2 minutes suggested to start the ErgDB workout.  When I started the ErgDB workout the Sufferfest Video automatically started over at the beginning.  I just kept riding and then during the first 4 minute interval (about 15 minutes in) both the erg workout and the video quit but Golden Cheetah didn't crash.  I restarted the workout and the video started up with it.  They were a little over a minute off with the ErgDB file ahead.

Ty - that's interesting about the Apple TV.  I have one but it is in another room.

Thanks

Update

The solution to the ErgDB and Sufferfest video being out of sync was easily fixed.
Using Text Edit and Numbers I added 1 minute 15 seconds to the beginning of the ErgDB workout.

I've changed the sufferfest_erg_files.xls so that you can set an arbitrary start time (0 for playing in GC). Let me know if you'd like a copy.

Yes Graham I would like a copy.
Thanks for the trouble.

I'm having the opposite problem.... I can see all the videos in the
lower left hand corner under "video/media" but when I hit start I get
the computrainer connected and functioning but no video displayed -
cannot even see where it would go. Tried the tab, tile and scroll view
settings.

What have I missed????

What O/S are you running?

If Linux, do you have VLC installed?
If MAC, does the video play with the default driver?

I think he may need to use the "add chart" button to add a video window to the train view.

Win 7 Pro 64 bit, can view the videos fine outside of GC
