Hi,

After recommending the Jones et al review paper to Alex yesterday I flicked through it again and was reminded of their proposal for an 'Endurance Index' that is the ratio of W' to CP. And was also reminded of the thread here recently where the ration was discussed.

So I've added it to the PD Estimates and its shown on the default CP History chart.

I have *no idea* if this will prove interesting at this point, but hey, you never know :)

I should add that its actually called the 'Endurance Parameter Ratio' in the article and was first proposed by Fukuba and Whipp.
Its a bit of a mouthful though, Endurance Index is a bit snappier .. http://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-1-4615-5887-3_46

Glad you mentioned this  this because the name bothered me slightly.  It's only subtle but "index" sounds like it should be dimensionless.

It strikes me that for many of these charts a period of a month is too small to get accurate data as often a maximal effort hasn't been done at the appropriate time points. If however we switch to a yearly view we can no longer see any trend. I imaging being able to view quarterly data would allow us to more accurately capture true maximal efforts whilst also allowing a trend to become clear.

Does the CP & W' data come deduced from ride files or the manually entered values in 'Tools | Options | Athlete' ?

It comes from model derived values, which in turn come from ride data, using a 2 month rolling aggregate of ride bests.
So if the data doesn't contain enough all out efforts the model derived values may be too low.

I'm not really sure there is much we can do about that though.
I assume that the user will know how representative the data is and therefore how accurate the model derived parameters are likely to be.

I could add an Endurance Index derived from configured values though, but as a metric and not an estimate ?

Does it mean that i have to look at the "trend"--> then click on "CP-tab" -->  then choose 2-3 month period ??
.....there is a liitle table which contains W' / CP / FTP / Endurance. Shall i use this values for the Athlete-Options?

Regards
