I have been using GC for some time now downloading to my desktop computer from the Garmin but want to start using it with a smart trainer and my laptop. I have used the Dropbox sync and all my files are now on the Dropbox cloud and Dropbox folders on both computers. How do I get these files on to GC on the laptop? Dropbox sync will not populate on there. Ideally I would like the files to sync between both computers whichever they are added to initially. I normally download rides from the Garmin to my Desktop as they go to other programs as well.

No idea what the problem is here we use dropbox (free version) and GC on 4 different PC/laptops.. two connected permanently to TACX trainers and two for general use.. we just select "share" and "synchronise dropbox" and it just works......
I have more of an issue keeping the GC config consistent so try to have a "master" where I play then copy this configuration  modification to the others

I'm also interested in this. At the moment I use SyncToy to keep the athlete folder on each of two PCs synchronised, but its a manual process so there's always the chance I forget to do it.
I'm thinking of changing the athlete and workout folders to sit in my MS OneDrive folder, so it should then synchronise across the two PCs with no intervention. Anyone have this set up working, or know any reasons why it might not work?

You can use Dropbox without using GC's "synchronise Dropbox" function to import/export files, just make sure your "Golden Cheetah library" folder is in Dropbox (or whatever other folder syncing system you are using).

To check where this folder is look in Help > About GoldenCheetah

I've been using TortoiseSVN on windows boxes for years with WKO3 and now GC, and while it's a little manual - you have to remember to update! It's pretty good.  You need an SVN repository, but .. I have a few of them.

Why not just move the athlete library into dropbox rather than use the default location for both computers? You can use symlinks to only share certain folders (e.g. activities) if you run into space issues.

Just make sure the machines are running the same architecture.
