Hi all,

I've been using GC for quite a long time for logging my riding and
would like to be able to use it with the wide range of Tacx 'real life
videos'

In summary, the videos contain a movie (no sound) and there are
separate support files with elevation and possibly other data in them.
When using a trainer the video moves in relation to the speed of the
trainer and the resistance of the trainer varies according to the
elevation of the video (attached profile data in a separate file)

There is also a variation of this which is the 'ergovideo' where the
wattage required is preset in the video and the resistance is varied
on the trainer until the target wattage is achieved.

My limited understanding is that there would be no way of transmitting
resistance commands back to the trainer, but I wonder if it would be
possible to sync the speed of video based on speed or power from the
trainer.

There used to be detailed instructions on tacx's own forum on how to
create these files (and therefore the possibility of deducing how to
read it), but tacx have removed it.

I have found information on how to create RLVs on this site
http://www.carstenjost.de/dijg/howto/anleitung_en.html

It is a german webpage that has been translated via google so is a bit
difficult to read. According to one person (http://www.facebook.com/
topic.php?uid=20831817792&topic=6579) it is possible to follow the
directions and successfully create a course.

Separately, there is information about the file formats on this site
http://www.whitepeak.org

I did try searching, but did not find this specific request in
previous discussions.

I'm a pretty technical end user so if someone tells me what needs to
be done I could begin the initial stages of the research to begin
putting this together.

Hi,

Well, we support video playback in the code, but it needs completing to allow the user to select media and associated course data.

When I finally get round to looking at this I'll look at RLV too.

I'm going to update the video playback feature request to include the info you provided here so it doesn't get lost in the mists of time.

Cheers,
Mark
