Hi
I am running GC v3 on an old pc to utilise the realtime mode for
turbotraining.
I would like these recorded files to be available on my main pc in
another room.
Is it possible to share the files or store them somewhere so that they
be accessed by either pc
Ideally i could save them to some cloud storage site which would would
mean them being synced and available on any pc running GC
Should this become a feature request?
Regards
Chris

I do this via Dropbox at the moment. Other services may also work.

I install GC to Dropbox. This could be a USB stick as well.

Under the GC install directory I create a "Library" folder. This is
the key. GC looks for this and uses it instead of the normal install
path.

When you run GC it will create users in the Library folder.

I have Dropbox on multiple machines (Mac, Windows, Linux) and they all
access the same data.

Just try not to access them at the same time. Get some weirdness
happening.

There is a feature request for specifying a custom save location.

Writing this reminds me I better change the Windows installer as if
you have this setup and do an Uninstall it will delete the GC install
directory and everything in it and that wouldn't be a good thing.

Thanks Gareth
I will try that for now until it becomes a "feature"

I installed GC in my Dropbox folder, created a folder called "Library"
in the GC directory, created a new athlete in GC and imported all my
files in to GC.
However they went in to a folder in C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Local
\GoldenCheetah-v3 not in to the Dropbox/GoldenCheetah-v3/Library/Chris
folder.
I have probably missed something fundamental but any suggestions?

Hi,

Sorry for the delay and the bad information.

You need to make a "Library" folder and then a "GoldenCheetah-v3"
folder beneath the "Library" folder.

Was going off of memory and not looking at the code.

Still cant get this to work as the installation creates a GC directory
in Appdata>Local>GC and stores the files there.
I must be doing something wrong.
What should the path to GC and the Library be??

If you install GC something like

"My Dropbox\GoldenCheetah-v3"

then create folders so you would have the following path

"My Dropbox\GoldenCheetah-v3\Library\GoldenCheetah-v3"

Next time you start GC it should use this path to store your user
data.

You can use a USB drive in much the same way.
