Hey all,

In trying to help out a friend who is doing a lot of trainer rides due
to an injury; I sent them an ANT stick, specifically, a Dynastream
Innovations OEM unit. $21 sure beats the $40 the Suunto (which shows
up in my USB device list as a Dynastream) costs:
http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/ANTUSB-M/1094-1009-ND/3947399

The computer is running Windows XP, GC 3.0-latest-current-RC. The
device appears in Device Manager in the tree under libusb; Windows
says it's "Working normally." I'm able to see the adapter in ANTware
II, though I can't make heads or tails of much else in ANTware.

The powertap hub (which has current electronics due to a rebuild)
pairs successfully with a Garmin 705 and transmits data, so we know
it's communicating OK on ANT. It's set up on a trainer about three
feet from the USB stick.

In Golden Cheetah, we don't see any ANT devices available for pairing.

Does anyone have any suggestions on further troubleshooting? Has
anyone used the Dynastram OEM USB stick? I've been wondering if
there's something special I have to do with it since it's an OEM
device...

Thanks!
Brett

Nice one on this. Certainly a good price for the mini receiver.

The theory is that it should work. Was the ANTwareII shut down?

Can you from the Device Manager let us know the Vid/Pid for the device?
Right click the device and select properties. Then the Details tab.
Look for the Property: Hardware IDs.

If it has a Vid of 0fcf and a Pid of 1008 then it should work.

If it is something different please let us know and we can fix the code?

Also if possible make sure nothing else is using the ANT+ stick and also try to get the receiver next to the transmitter initally to make sure it is not a range issue.

Yup; initially it wasn't even installed.

Sure, we'll try to get it to you ASAP. I just emailed 'em.

Feature suggestion for 3.1: on the pairing screen, include a status
line that says something like:

"ANT adapter detected: Usbstick Co ANT-5000, ID...." or "No ANT
adapter detected"

Hi,

I have successfully used those sticks. They use the same technology of the other ant sticks.
If you use them with a PC, make sure you install the device drivers.
See:

What information in my email led you to believe that this is a
"drivers aren't installed" problem?

USB\Vid_Ofcf&Pid_1009&Rev_0100USB\Vid_Ofcf&Pid_1009

So, looks like the VID is the same, new PID.

I can add a fixup to search for that PID too, but no idea if it will work .. fancy testing it?

Are you doing this on Windows?

Hi,

ANT+ allows to have multiple displays connected to the same sensor, at the same time.
The 705 and GoldenCheetah can receive data from the powertap without problems. While this is not possible with Bluetooth LE.
You can also check "Key ANT+ technical advantages" in here:
The problem is somewhere else..

ANT communications is peer-to-peer when the 705 is talking to the Powertap.  Unless you have an ANT hub you will not be able to make the Garmin 705 and the ANTUSB-M communicate with the Powertap at the same time.

Ensure that your Garmin is turned off.

For more information look at your datasheet:
http://www.thisisant.com/resources/antusb-m-datasheet/

You will be using the peer-to-peer configuration as shown on the first page.

I hope I am correct...  Tell us how it performs.

Yes.

The OEM Stick has a PID of 1009 that is not recognised by GoldenCheetah, we look for 1008 which is the original Garmin USB2 stick. I have added 1009 to the RC7 that is coming soon. Lets see if it works.

I just received a very excited confirmation that it's working in RC7!

Thanks, Mark and company; this really helps my friend out who is stuck
training on the rollers+trainer due to an injury, and whose powertap
was rebuilt (Saris neglected to mention the rebuild included newer
electronics that wouldn't work with their old Joule...)
