Quick question: how to "partially" estimate power for a file?

My power meter went dead partial way through a long ride, so the data naturally is incomplete for power. IS there a way to use the actual power to the point the meter went dead, then have GC calculate for the rest of the ride?

I know I can do some exporting, merging, importing, gymnastics, but first wondering if there's a simple way to do this.

If you run Edit > Estimate Power it will replace all your power data, the good and the bad, so a simple way around this is to previously select and copy the good power data and paste again after running the DP.
BTW If you paste the good data on a spreadsheet then you can do some comparisons with estimates for that segment to fine tune estimation parameters until they are close enough, at least on average, so you can be a little mor confident about the estimation for the missing part.

Good idea, thanks!

Today while swimming I realized you don’t need a spreadsheet having GC compare mode for intervals: just import the activity twice, mark intervals for the segments with Power and compare them while you run Estimate Power on one of the activities until you are happy with the results (or give up).

This is basically what I did fine tuning values for CdA and Crr for my mountain bike by comparing the Estimate Power results against the rides recorded with power pedals I hired for a week. Some elevation smoothing helped reduce the spikyness. Looking at average power/total work to be pretty near for actual and estimated.
