Hi all,

One area of GC that I've never fully understood is whether each time I do an FTP test should I manually update my FTP in the Preferences>Athlete>Zones section? Or if I leave it blank will GC calculate a FTP for me based on the uploaded data? Is this the FTP that is displayed in the CP chart model box?

Ultimately I would prefer to just keep a track on 20 minute power in GC and only update my FTP on my garmin as this is the only practical time I need this metric. If I therefore delete my old FTPs in the Preferences>Athlete>Zones section will it have any negative impact on my old data? For example, will TSS, IF etc change?

Many thanks for your help

Thom

Pretty easy - if you delete your FTP/CP value in your athlete preference - any chart relying on it (PMC) as well as Power based Stress Scores (e.g. TSS) is just crap / not existing /... . GC is never updating your FTP/CP value in the preferences automatically - the value shown is an estimate based on the model selected and your data. If you do not need
your FTP/CP in GoldenCheetah one of the main use cases - tracking Stress Scores, PMC is not available/wrong any more.

Hi Jörn,

Many thanks for the reply, thats really useful.

Will there be any effect on my metrics (TSS, IF etc etc) if I leave the CP field blank and just maintain an FTP?

That would work if you check the "Use FTP for Coggan metrics" option

Hi Jörn,

Sorry for the late question - I'm a little confused by your statement.
Is your suggestion to remove all power zone data?

No, he is just explaining what happens if you do that.
