Hi, new user here.

Got this message:
"Unable to establish a database connection. This feature requires SQLite support. Please read the Qt SQL driver documentation for information how to build it."

I'm running GC Version 2.0, build date Nov 29 2010 12:28:37 on a Windows 7 Sony Vaio laptop.

What should I do next?

Thanks!

If you did a standard install, check to see if you have the file:
C:\Program Files\GoldenCheetah\sqldrivers\qsqlite4.dll

If this is missing then the install broke for some reason.
I'd try an uninstall and reinstall.

I just downloaded 2.0 from the main website and it installed and ran
with out for me.

I would also recommend checking out development versions of GC.

Either 2.1 (lots of bug fixes and improvements on 2.0) or the newer
3.0 (major GUI overhaul and new features).

They can be downloaded at: http://goldencheetah.stand2surf.net/

Thanks for your reply Gareth.

I looked around and found the dll in a slightly different folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GoldenCheetah\sqldrivers
The (x86) is the only difference AFAIK.

I do also have a folder named as you mentioned, without the (x86), but there's no Golden Cheetah sub folder there.

By the way, this exact same error message also appeared on my wife's computer (yes we're both competitive cyclists, married life's great!), also a Windows 7 laptop.

Do you think I should still try an uninstall and reinstall, or maybe a develoment verson? I'm not a developer or an (especially) early adopter, I just want to get off WKO+.

Thanks for your advice!

Okay you are running 64bit Windows that is why it is in the x86
directory as GC is a 32bit application.

The bigger question, who has more bikes?

I'd say jump into the development releases. Try out both versions and
see which of the two you prefer.
2.1 development is a bug fixer and minor enhanced version over 2.0. I
run the 2.1 code at the moment and it is stable and the fixes and
tweaks make it a more stable and usable version over the 2.0 release -
especially if you are running Garmin Edge computers.
3.0 development has more new features and and the user interface is
different yet similar. There are still things that don't work in it as
they are still being coded but it has everything that 2.x has and more
- the realtime training if you have any of the supported devices is a
major reason to use this version. For my trainer workouts, I use this
version.

Once we release 2.1 then the focus will move to 3.x going forward and
this will be where new features and bug fixes will take place.

Hope this helps in making a choice. The error you get is very weird
and it sounds like the install didn't work correctly which is
something I haven't heard of happening before.

I was just asking about real time training in another thread.

How stable is the 3.0 release?

Does it work with the Garmin USB (usb1) stick and with the
VirtualBox / quarqd install?

I would assume yes but as I only just got 2.0 to work I don't want to
mess it up before I have used it and shown a few people.

Thanks Robert

Getting better. Depends on which version of Windows you are running.
32 bit seems more stable. If you aren't adding charts to home screen
it's good.

Actually it does away with the VirtualBox setup.
It uses native ANT+ messaging. I use it regularly. Very nice.

Thanks again for your reply Gareth.

Huh, I never realized my inexpesive Vaio was running 64-bit, but System confirms it. Am I SOL for GC then?

Actually my wife has more bikes! Depending on how you divide up the tandem...:-)

2.1 sounds attractive, especially the stable aspect and since we have Garmins.
3.0 sounds beyond my needs at the moment - I don't do any real-time training, and I really rather have something stable.

So do you think the error is due to 64-bit? Can my Vaio emulate 32 bit or will 3.0 be 64-bit compatible?

Sorry for all the questions, thanks for your clear answers!

I'm running 3.0 on a 64-bit Windows install and it runs like a champ.  No reason not to give it a shot, especially since your 2.0 install isn't working.

I have this same issue on Windows 7 64 bit.

I'm not sure what I need to install to make Golden Cheetah work.

What build/version are you using ? (Help > About GoldenCheetah > Version)
