Hi, in tab map, after a few seconds the map becomes transparent gray and this error message appears. I have tested on several computers and I have the same problem in both.
Any idea where the problem may come from?
Thank you!

Not a bug, Google started charging for Maps -- we will deprecate support.
On chart options switch to use openstreetview instead -- but needs 3.5DEV

Sorry for the lack of knowledge on my part. I assume that 3.5DEV is some kind of beta/development version of GC. How do I install this?

And where do I find "Chart Options" referenced in the quoted post. Thx.

Anyway of entering Google API key to take advantage of the Google's monthly "free credits"? V3.4

I found the GoldenCheetah.org site that has the 3.5DEV version available. So I am assuming that "Chart Options" will pop out of this.

Do folks typically run the released and DEV versions in parallel or what is suggested here?

Again - my apologies for the lack of knowledge.

Ok, that gets a map back but It still pops up a google dialog box complaining 'this page can't load google maps correctly' even with openstreetmap selected 3.5DEV-1806.

Is there a way to use OSM files one has downloaded onto the HD?

Assuming, we have to patient for the next release to default to OpenStreetMap?
Nasty Google.

Not quite, May 2nd, as you can imagine I wasn't too keen to pop my credit card down to pay for this ! :)

"Hi,

Today we are announcing important changes, including our new name - Google Maps Platform, a simplified product structure, pay as you go pricing for all, and more. Please take a few minutes to review the announcement to familiarize yourself with the upcoming changes.

We would like to highlight a few updates that may impact your implementation. Beginning June 11th, we are launching our new pricing plan and providing all users access to support. We’ll continue to offer a free tier — all developers will receive $200 of free monthly usage of our core products.

In addition, this change will require you to enable billing and associate it with all of your Google Maps Platform projects. Creating a billing account helps us better understand your usage so we can continue developing helpful products. It also allows you to scale easily with less downtime and fewer performance issues if your product grows beyond the $200 of free monthly usage. For additional visibility and control you can set daily quotas or billing alerts."

There's a "nice" thread on reddit outlining how "well" received the announcement was and the new quotas: https://www.reddit.com/r/webdev/comments/8gkmeo/starting_google_maps_platform_arrives_with/

OK, interesting. On another forum, specifically for VirbEdit which has the same problem, it seemed the change was from this: https://developers.google.com/maps/pricing-and-plans/standard-plan-2016-update

Hi Steve,

Those updates are 2 years old and were fine for us. The problem we have now is the quota for requests has dropped dramatically since June. We were always right on the limit of the free quota, and now we would bust through it. To even get the free quota Google want billing details, I'm not prepared to give them that. So we don't get any and need to retire use of the google maps api.

Google map problem persists, there is no new build available, no matter what map source is selected it ALWAYS show Google map error. When can we expect any update?

Well, it's a little bit of a pain, but I for one am very grateful for GC and all the developers' work, and I can cope with having to press the "OK" button to dismiss this. Thanks for all your work!

PITA. I appreciate the cause and action GC have to take and unwillingness of ML to enter CC details.

I actually have an api and ,instead. i don't mind pressing 'ok' as some above say.
I assume i cant enter my api and i assume that the pressing 'ok'  wont work soon??

Going forwards I 'need' access to a satellite image rather than a map.

Q: ill satellite imagery still be possible?

The code has been fixed by Damien - it just missed the dev build but will be in the next one.
