The same goes here, "tail " doesnt see it, and GC fails to find any ANT device... But the garmin connect finds and uploads it without problem and roadtrainer works well too.

Probably we are missing a driver... hmm

Cheers,

Murat

Hi!
Did you install garmin ANT agent?
For me, the last version of GC3 didn´t work as well, the software didn´t find any device.
This has to be a software issue, because i can use the stick with trainerroad software perfectly fine.
I have to try the new version, maybe this one will detect the garmin stick.

I installed Win7 in bootcamp, GC3 works quite fine with the garmin stick.
Maybe this will be your solution until GC3 works under OSX.

cheers!

You need a build that has LibUsb support compiled in. I noticed that Gareth's builds don't at present (see About->Versions).

Mark

Remember you're using an unreleased developer version of GC.

Use the source Luke!

Hi,

If you go back to one of the older (pre Nov 2012) the v3 build will do realtime but you won't have fixes.

I am working on building in the libusb (and oversite on my behalf) and it should be in the next release that I do most likely early next week.

I don't know what has been changed. Previously it used to work as a charm, but after installing Garmin ANT agent because I purchased Forerunner 610 it does not work with any version of GC.

I think that ANT Agent and GC compete for the stick.  Are you sure that ant agent isn't running?

Yes, I even deleted the Garmin ANT agent app and tried the GC, no luck. Trainerroad works ok.

You have GC linked with libusb?  Double-check in the "About" (I forget which tab)

Latest development build GoldenCheetah -d8696de from here http://goldencheetah.stand2surf.net. LIBUSB yes.

When I try to add Native ANT+ device from Preferences-Training devices without the stick connected, GC starts scanning. I will put stick in and get message "Device found. Press next to continue".

Next I will get the actual "search and find ANT+ device window" but GC keeps searching without luck.

Very strange. It finds the stick obviously but cannot communicate with the devices.

I'm in the identical position to Kale. Running Mavericks and GC3.0.1 with a Garmin ANT+ USB2 stick.

Should I be running any Garmin software to get GC to see my ANT+ devices?

Has anyone got to the bottom of this?

I've upgraded to 3.0.2 now too, and still can't connect to any devices.

Do you have Garmin Communicator installed? I believe it needs to be installed but not running, even the program in the tray needs to be killed.

I'm running a locally-compiled GC on 10.6 (snow leopard) with locally-compiled libusb.  GC is a pull I did late Friday evening (US Central time).

I haven't tried using the ANT+ stick lately, but I'll give it a shot tonight if I have time.  The ANT+ stick came with my wife's Garmin 405 purchased a few years ago and I'm sure it's never had a firmware update (if that's even possible), so I'll check into that as well (no, I will not update the firmware of something that is working just fine, though).

Running 10.6.8 and cannot connect using a Garmin Ant+ stick (from my wife's old Forerunner, as well). Thanks!

I have tested the 3.0.2 release on:

10.6 with ANT+ USB2 key - Success
10.7 with ANT+ USB2 key - Success
10.8 with ANT+ USB2 key - Success

I do not have 10.9 so I cannot test.

I do not have any special drivers or any Garmin/TrainerRoad/Anything else on these machines.
In all cases, from Apple symbol, About this Mac, More Info... , System Report under Hardware/USB I can see the ANT+ key being inserted or removed after a refresh.

When running GC, I start with the ANT+ key inserted into the Mac. Going to Train mode I select Add Device. I click Native ANT+. GC finds the key and starts to search for the following devices HeartRate/Power/Speed/Cadence/Speed+Cadence. It pairs with my HR strap and displays the ANT+ Id. I click Next then enter in a Name and click Save.

To use I click the Device I just added in the Devices section so that it is highlighted and the click start and away I go.

I cannot find an issue with the way this is working. If you see the search happening after clicking the Native ANT+ then it knows about the USB key. If i does not find a transmitter to pair with then make sure that it is not too from away from the USB key. If that still fails and you know the ANT+ ID for the transmitters then you can add them in as a comma separated list.

So it should look something like:  12345h,67890d

The code letters are:

h = heartrate sensor
s = speed only sensor
c = cadence only sensor
d = speed/cadence sensor
p = power sensor

Save that and it should search for these two id's next time.

Other than that I cannot really think of what may be causing issues.

If you are using a USB1 key then you need to install a driver to get this to appear as a Serial device and I cannot think of the driver off the top of my head and I remember there being issues with the driver that was being used.
