Since we are approaching the v3.5 release and the last build (RC1) is feature complete it would nice to have the document updated.

The more technical parts s.t. formulas, user defined metrics, R and Python charts are already updated as most, but not all, of the FAQs.

The user guide is mostly in the v3.0-v3.2 range and the documentation for Train module is sparse.

For those willing to collaborate no programming skills are required but a good familiarity with GoldenCheetah as a user is fundamental.

The wiki is open for text updates, pictures are stored in https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/tree/master/doc/wiki and to add/remove/change them can be done via Pull Requests.

Thanks in advance and please post here if you have any question.

Ale.

Users guide revision is slowly advancing, but for Train we should start from scratch.

Any collaboration, specially from knowledgeable users of Train module, is welcome.

I'm willing to give it a try. Do you have any other takers for me to discuss strategies, any historic preferences, or feedback before I start?
If not give me a day or so to come up with a structure.

Just as a question. Are there any usage statistics gathered anywhere? It would be great to know what platforms/versions/functions were use the most... If not,m would there be any appetite for putting a short questionnaire out there where we could get a little data to help direct?

We have 5000 users that use GC all the time, an estimate of about 30k active users and the last version (3.4) was downloaded 260k times. Split between platforms is 60% windows, 30% mac and 10% linux.

Version 3.5 collects usage data if the user accepts this, when calling the update service to check for a new version it will record the location of the user. For more information about this see: https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/wiki/GoldenCheetah-Project-Privacy-Policy#active-installs-by-city-and-operating-system

I've started a FAQ section about the TRAIN mode, in the case anyone wants to collaborate -even with questions- this is the link: https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/wiki/FAQ#train
