Hi,
I wonder a bit, that my descriptions of  workouts, which I made in Trainingpeaks are not displayed in GC.

I unziped the export and gzipped the FIT-FIle, It seems still be a binary file. So I couldn't prove if my workout description is exported (I searched in emacs for a word i wrote but I couldn't find it ) .

Is my Problem an Trainingpeaks export or an GC import Problem?

Thanks

Neither if you are using FIT files.

Which else format should I use instead? TrainingPeaks offers only that format in the menu settings - export - date-range

.. and the csv files which could be exported by the workout-summery
option couldn't be importeted because of an insuffizient impport :-(
That's the reason why i use only the option settings - export - choose
date-range-Workout Files and not summery

NFI, I have not used TP anymore since they closed the fence (https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/wiki/FAQ-UPLOADING-AND-DOWNLOADING#Why-does-upload-to-TrainingPeaks-keep-failing), but the FIT format doesn't support textual descriptions or notes.

I mean: we still allow import in Training Peaks format (.pwx) including Notes, but I don’t know how/if you can still export your data in that format from TP, you need to look at their documentation or ask them, or perhaps other users may help.

Thanks for your answer, to ask some other users, I thought, this is the best way. Because I do not.know someone who uses GC

For my use case, there is  one athlete. that tracks his sessions with a Garmin or a igp-sports device.

And syncs all to TrainingPeaks anD adds some comments in TP there.

Then I look at that session with GC.

On the other side is a regional Coach who also looks to his sessions with a professional version of TP.

Actually, I must copy and paste all coments.

Do you have other suggestions to get the full personal notes in GC from that athlete?

Or a better way to sync?

Thanks,
Matthias

If that notes are included in summary CSV an alternative would be to create a Python Data Processor running on import which reads the CSV, gets the notes and adds them to Notes metadata field using setTag.

Or a better way to sync?

Regrettably not, we had a fully automated solution until TP removed the API we used, likely to fuel WKO+ licenses sales, you go that route if you need that kind of sync.

Thats hard stuff for me. On which point should could I start? First, I
meant that the csv-file-format  seems to has chnaged, since the import
routine was build. Where can I find that source code?
Secound, I don't have any Idea how the csv File is structured.

But myxbe I try to figure it out and maybe it is an Project for the
evening.

Grr. Windows is in the virtualbox much to slow on my computer, and It's
no fun to run WKO5 in that virtual machine.

CSV import in GC supports specific formats and it is intended to import whole activities, it doesn’t apply to this case.

CSV files are text files, you can open them using a text editor or spreadsheet program, code to read them using Python can be found using Google or an AI LLM.

Thanks, i red the workout file. With Perl it would be simple foe me,  to extract the Values. I try to figure out, how it works with Phyton and the CustumDataProcessor.

If you prefer to work with Perl you can add Notes to activities when GC is closed, activities files are JSON files and updates will be available on the next start.
