Hi, I am thinking if it is possible to use GC /or start working on a project/  like this:

1. obtain any real GPX or TCX recorded data for track, or make track with any of the commercially available program (strava, garmin, ridewithgps)

2. import data to train mode, and use online google maps to ride - all the data are there - latitude, longitude, speed etc.

Actually this means riding / train  virtual ride with google maps.

Any suggestions?

thanks, Borut

I don't know how to do this myself however it's a very attractive feature for me if this is possible.

It was previously possible to "ride" through a Google Streetview of a ride, but that has been deprecated.  Honestly, I used it a few times and the pictures are inherently jerky as you go through Streetview, and it isn't that great.  I think using RLVs -- the Video Sync feature -- is much more useful, though you need video of the route in question.  There are many free RLVs.

Yes, I understand what you mean. I used also ProForm Tour de France indoor bike, which has this option, but is streaming via wifi and is not really good. Also the power meter on it is not representative, shows way too much power. This is reason I stopped using it.
Going back to your answer - I can make some of my own videos (using garmin camera with all the data recorded). How can I use this video then to repeat the real life experience - so if I go slow, the video will play slower, ect. If I stop the video will stop, if I push hard, the power will let me ride uphill faster and video will response apropriately.
Maybe this is too much of me - demanding real life feeds, but we live in virtual world anyway, ;), any suggestions or help?
regards, Borut

I searched google and this was the first result:  http://cyclingrlv.com/howto-make/

A listing of places to get free RLV and software to create them: http://darrencope.com/cycling-software/

seems mike has experience.
actually i am so intrigued that yesterday i went and bought the trainer which can do this, and made windows partition on my mac to be able to use the software.
will see how it goes and what are the issues. the site you both mentioned (AG) seems really good.
I have many of my rides on video (garmin mounted front), and will try to use them.
i suppose it will be painful to edit them, but .. will ask for help, and also will tell how it went in i will succeed.
regard and thanks, borut

Oh, crap, I should have noticed earlier -- you use Mac. The RLVs don't work on Mac because they use QuickTime instead of VLC player. Maybe Mark Liversedge can comment but last time I checked on this about a year ago you have to run the PC version.

You need the avi, rlv and pgmf file loaded in, and you must select each of these files from the left sidebar from the video, workout and video sync sections, respectively. You must have your devices set with ANT+ FE-C, of course. And, that's it!

Any Idea where to load this pgmf  ?
I've tried in ERG section but nothing happens.

Pgmf is in video sync section. If you simply add the folder where you store all RLV files into the "scan for workouts" list, it will put everything where it needs to be.
