Hi, Gang,
I am pasting below a part of Damir's recent message to me. I thought
it would be of interest to the group, and I am hoping that the more
tech-savvy among you will be able to provide some answers:
fr. Damir:
2. We have concrete issues, while trying to map e.g. MULTEXT and
MULTEXT-EAST on GOLD (and vice versa), and we would like to get some
features we need into GOLD, or discuss the extensions. One way to go
could be to add them ourselves and post a diff to somebody to check
the relevance or justification. We cannot be certain about things
being necessary without having some feedback on some existing features
and concepts.
3. We would like to come up with a nationalized or localized version
of GOLD in Croatian, where the concepts are explained and presented in
the specific language (once certain extensions are made clear). Also,
we want to strip off all non-existing concepts and features, to have a
raw Croatian instance of GOLD, and extend this to various dialects and
languages of this region, to get some qualitative comparison by
matching the resulting language specific instances.
Our goals are to come up with a match- and mismatch list soon, that
might be used also as a basis for the extension discussion. While our
morphological annotation should come to an end soon, and be entering
the corpora, we start thinking about the syntactic annotation, which
we would also like to keep linked to GOLD concepts (for the semantic
or conceptual annotation we also use SUMO).
Any idea or suggestion from your side would be very welcome!
