to GOLD Ontology
Hi, Gang,
I was hoping that someone would reply to Damir's message, which I
posted earlier. The main question, I think, is how he should proceed
with the new concepts which are needed for the Croatian Language
corpus. (Please see my earlier posting.)
Now, we're building a GOLD Community website that will solicit
comments and suggestions on GOLD concepts. These will be passed to
Scott and the GOLD Council for periodic inclusion in draft documents
proposing emendations to the standard. This is the way OLAC works.
But this doesn't seem like a sensible way to handle proposed additions
from developers, arising out of specific projects. I think we were
thinking primarily of suggestions from the linguistics community--
which could be reviewed at leisure.
I have a vague idea that COPEs are supposed to deal with this
situation. But no one has ever built a COPE, as far as I know. How
would I proceed if I wanted to build a COPE? Just add to the ontology
on my own and publish the result as a COPE?
Scott and Jeff, any comments?
Best,
-Helen
