Hi there!

Is it ok to use a gopher picture as my google profile?

Is it ok to use it as a profile picture at the issue tracker at work?

I couldn't find any licence for them...

Thanks in advance for your reply!

Cheers,
Kosta

The gopher pictures are here: http://code.google.com/p/go/source/browse/#hg%2Fdoc%2Fgopher

Therefore, the license appears to be here: http://code.google.com/p/go/source/browse/LICENSE

Hm... ok.

Now how do I reproduce the copyright notice, the list of conditions and the disclaimer? From that licence, it seems impossible to use it that way :(

Cheers,
Kosta

What's the origin of the mascot?

The mascot and logo were designed by Renée French, who also designed Glenda, the Plan 9 bunny. The gopher is derived from one she used for an WFMU T-shirt design some years ago. The logo and mascot are covered by the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license.

I beleieve the Gopher pictures have the "Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License" as noted in the home page of golang.org

IANAL, but it sounds like you can use the gopher in both cases.  After you add it as your G+ profile picture, go to your "Photos" tab and into the Profile Pictures album and click on the image, then in the lightbox you should be able to add a caption with the appropriate attribution ("Go Gopher by Renée French").  For your issue tracker, you can probably just add it to the footer (""Go Gopher logo created by Renée French") or possibly as the HTML title of the image so that hovering over it shows the attribution.

I could, of course, be wrong.
